Q: 1. This focal length is very prone to sagittal coma flare. Does the Otus 28mm resist this? Especially with off axis bright lights?
A: At worst, the flares will look artistic and beautiful ... everything is beautiful through that lens (not kidding !). But yes, stopping the lens down even to 1.8 will likely eliminate it.
Q: 2. What is the TBW for the CS2140?
A: The PNY 2TB CS2140 M.2 PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe Internal SSD is 1200 TBW.
Q: 3. Hello,I am concerned about how a person determines if a subject is in focus or not. Will my focusing green dot on my Nikon D610 work with this lens? Do I have to look at the image and determine focus by the picture quality. I have tried magnifying eyepieces and my eyesight will not allow me to use them. Thanks in advance.Bill
A: When the lens is stopped down the dot indicating that focus is achieved works fine. When working at a shallow depth of field, live view or a zacuto z pro finder helps with focus. If using live view a helpful hint I found on the internet is to program the center button of the multiselector (option f2 in the custom settings on a D-810 so that live view will immediately go to zoom mode when this button is pushed when you're in live view. This button can also be programed to zoom during playback to quickly check focus. You can program it for 50%, 100%, or200% magnification and it zooms centered on the site of your focus point. On a sunny day a hoodman is very useful. It's much smaller than a zacuto and can be quickly placed over the review screen to check exposure or focus in the sun when you can't see the liveview screen well. If relieing on the in camera focus dot for focusing with a narrow depth of field, there is quite a distance that the lens focus ring can be moved and yet still indicate that the camera thinks you are in focus. I did some test shots and I found that sometimes even though I thought I turned the focus ring until it was about in the center of where focus was indicated when coming into and out of focus as the ring was turned, the picture sometimes was still slightly out of focus. I found that if I started focusing in front of my desired site and turned the focus ring until the camera just indicated in focus I often achieved good focus, but when I began focusing behind the subject and turned the focus ring until the camera indicated in focus then the image was always fuzzy. This also happens with my other camera, a D700.
Q: 4. Will Zeiss ever introduce another Otus lens between the 28mm and 55mm focal length? I am desperate for a 35mm or 40mm Otus!
A: At this time, we do not have information on a new Zeiss Otus lens that is around 35mm. But Zeiss does have an Otus 28mm, ZEISS Otus 28mm f/1.4 ZE Lens for Canon EF BH #ZE2814OC • MFR #2102-182 https://bhpho.to/3BkjMNN .
Q: 5. how would this lens do with the Canon C70 cinema camera? i realise that it is manual focus but then so are most cinema lenses
A: The ZEISS Milvus 25mm f/1.4 ZE Lens for Canon EF will be compatible with the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R on the Canon EOS C70 Cinema Camera (RF Mount), and it offers excellent results.
Q: 6. The plastic pieces look gray on the picture. Are they really gray? Not black?
A: The Sennheiser MZQ 22 Double Tie Clip would be in the color black.
Q: 7. Would it be correct to assume that the clicks aperture control on these lenses applies only to the Nikon mount, not the Canon?
A: The canon version does not have an f/stop ring and the Nikon version does. The Nikon version also comes with a tool so you can convert the f/stop ring to de-clicked.
Q: 8. Has anyone tried this NAS with (4) Crucial 4TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2? It's not listed on the compatability page, but QNAP usually works well with everything. I saw one review online saying this NAS does not allow for four 4TB NVMEs - want to make sure it works before purchasing.
A: Yes, the Crucial 4TB P3 NVMe PCIe 3.0 M.2 Internal SSD will be compatible with the QNAP TBS-464 M.2 NVMe SSD NASbook.
Q: 9. Is the CS2140 compatible with the OWC Express 4M2?
A: Yes, the PNY 2TB CS2140 M.2 PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe Internal SSD is compatible with the OWC Express 4M2, B&H # OWTB3EX4M2SL.
Q: 10. Can you confirm if this model has hard stop focus ring at infinity like other Zeiss models or does the focus ring move past infinity?
A: The Zeiss Otus 1.4/28 focuses beyond infinity, as does the other Otus lenses. The special glass types used in the construction of the lens are sensitive to thermal expansion, so a hard stop would cause infinity problems at high temperatures.
