This 4-stop, 72mm Kolari Vision Pro IRND Filter is optically engineered to be the most neutral filter in the visible light spectrum and beyond into the infrared range. This filter delivers neutral darkening in every wavelength, and at every angle. Ultra-wide angle tested and approved for excellent vignetting and color cast performance. Built with premium ultra-thin, ultra-strong Corning Gorilla Glass, this filter is more than two times stronger than Schott B270 glass to direct impacts, and more resistant to scratches for better long-term durability. The slim-brass frame features knurling that helps with your grip, making it easier to attach and remove the filter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would an 82mm lens cap be a snug fit with this? Or does it need to be bigger?

A: The 82mm cap works well on the filter for 77mm

Q: 2. Can I use this on my Nikon wide-angle lens 10-24mm without vignette?

A: Most likely, no. The rim on this filter being the variable midel, is much wider than a standard ND would be. You definitely need to find a fixed stop ND for a wide angle. Even with that, you may still have slight vignetting at the 10mm end.

Q: 3. with an ultra-wide angle lens (i.e. Canon 16-35mm F4L with a full frame camera), do you get the dreaded X show up and if so at what density does it show up?

A: The X you can sometimes pick up in the image with a variable ND filter is caused most of the time by variable ND filters that go over 7-8 stops and lower quality ones. The B+W filter is fine. The one thing you might pick up is when set to the widest setting on that lens, 16mm you might pick up some vignette. And that is going to happen with that lens with most filters because of how wide it can go. The filter is designed with a thinner frame so it should be somewhat minimal.

Q: 4. Hey guys/gals! I have the 82mm on a sony GMaster 24-70mm 2.8. I mainly got it for shooting video becasue slog has a minimum iso of 800 so I needed to reduce the light. Everything seemed to be working perfectly for awhile but now I'm starting to notice some vignetting in the corners when I'm at 24mm. It's very slight when shooting video but pretty bad when I'm shooting photos. What's goin on?? Anyone else with a similar experience or did I just not notice it before for some reason?...

A: That is true and why I sent it back. Get the Schneider 82mm True-Match Vari-ND Filter instead. It does not do that due to it's type of construction. Although more money, it is worth it.

Q: 5. Hi,I was wondering 2 things about this filter:* does it have hard stops ?* what is the size of the front filter ? is it 62mm ? thanks

A: This B+W 62mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC nano Filter has hard stops from +1 to +5 stops. The front thread size on this filter is 67mm; in order to avoid vignetting, the front filter thread is oversized.

Q: 6. i have a question regarding this filter, do I need to use the lens hood for this filter, with the filter on the lends, the hood does not fit, is it ok to use the 24-70 2.8 70-200 2.8 17-35 2.8 24-120 4.0 lenses without hood, light will not stray inside the lens, with the ND filter on.? please respond. thanks. Ara

A: My best advice is to try a few shots with the hood on and off on each lens. The W.A. (17-35) will probably give the most trouble, but check the others as well.

Q: 7. Does this filter work with an M.Zuiko Olympus F2.8 Pro 12-40mm?And would a step down ring 52-62mm cause vignetting?

A: It will work with that lens. If your using a 52-62mm step up ring from a smaller lens you will be ok. If your using a step down to put a 52mm filter on a 62mm lens then you will most likely have vignetting.

Q: 8. Has anyone tried the Variable 82mm on a sony 16-35GM2.8? I want to know if you saw any vignetting or any issues with it. I know the 24-70gm also has the same filter thread so I was wondering just how wide you can go with the filter beefore vignetting.

A: Today's Polarizers from quality manufacturers are all made to be thin to avoid vignetting on wide lenses. This one from B+W has the coveted Thin Brass Filter Ring. You will be good.

Q: 9. Does the front filter thread rotate when changing ND Amount? Looking to add a step up ring and go to a matte box.

A: Yes, the front threads on this filter are a 86mm size.

Q: 10. Can I use a this filter for a Canon 24-105mm and Sigma 18-35mm lens?

A: Yes, but you need one more part to make it fit. You'll need what's called a step-up ring. Your Canon lens is a 77mm filter thread size and you need a step-up ring (super cheap to buy) that spans the difference (a 77mm to 82mm ring). Same for Sigma - need to find a 72-82mm step-up ring or you may have to buy two, a 72-77mm and a 77-82mm. You can shop for them here.
