Bring your broadcast mobile with this HS-1600T Mark II 4-Channel HD/SD/HDBaseT Portable Video Streaming Studio from Datavideo. This mobile studio utilizes HDBaseT technology to control up to three Datavideo PTZ cameras while streaming H.264 video to the web. It features three HDBaseT inputs that can control connected cameras and accept video inputs, as well as one HDMI input to add an additional video source. Three HDMI program outputs allow you to connect to monitors to display your program, one HDMI is for graphics output, and a streaming RJ45 LAN output connector lets you stream live to the Internet using a minimum Cat 6 cable. Depending on the data rate of your stream, you can also record to an optional SD card.

The HS-1600T Mark II is built into a suitcase-like form with a 17.3" TFT LCD monitor with 1920 x 1080 resolution built into the lid. The rest of the unit features all the switcher controls, including a T-bar for transitions, a joystick, audio sliders, and a host of buttons for controlling your PTZ cameras, inputs, program outputs, and streaming video. There are also 2RCA and XLR audio inputs to mix analog audio into your program.

The monitor supports multiview mode, while the HDMI and streaming output support your program output. The switcher also supports popular mix effects, including picture-in-picture, wipe, mix, and fade, and it incorporates one upstream keyer. It can also send red and green tally signals via the built-in tally connector. The built-in real-time encoder enables live streaming, and you can stream and record your program at the same time.

Q: 2. What is the best way to color grade the video signals coming? If I have a C100 coming in, am I able to make any adjustments to the color? Assuming need another piece of gear to do this properly but not sure what I need.

A: When using a camera like the C100, which has an HDMI output, and a more basic switcher like the Roland V-1HD there really is not an additional piece of gear that is going to allow you to color grade the camera. However you can always adjust the settings in the camera itself. There are different picture profiles you can adjust and you can even dial in the exact white balance you desire.

Q: 3. Can I connect this device (out) to a VR3X (in)?

A: That would be possible. You could take the output from the V-1HD and connect it to the Roland VR-3EX's 4th HDMI input. The 4th HDMI input on the VR-3EX can accept an HD signal.

Q: 4. Hi there. Wondering if anyone has successfully used an iPad for the 4 channel preview output? My assumption is that this is possible and would just need a conversion from the HDMI preview output to an iPad. Would be great to use an iPad to preview all 4 channels as opposed to a monitor for a more compact setup. Thanks.

A: I would doubt that this would be possible, especially with the closed framework of Apple with the iPad as it usually cannot be setup as a monitor. I purchased a small 8 monitor for my compact setup and that works great.

Q: 5. Hi !! Is this switcher compatible with all my camera NTSC signal having frame rate 30 fps ? Thanks!!

A: This unit is only listed for 59.94 (60). 30 FPS is not available.

Q: 6. I shoot with 2 70d's & 1 80d will I be able to get a clean out with this switcher? I'm currently post editing everything after I upload the video's to my computer...What a hassle.. What else would I need? Thank you for any advice. Alan

A: yes it will still have good results bec. it has a 4:2:2 color video processing, and get a 4:2:2 8-10bit video recorder for better results

Q: 7. Is this rack mountable?

A: The Roland V-1SDI is not rack mountable, it is designed to be used on a table top so you can access the control surface. However you could put this on a Sliding Rack Shelf, that way you can pull the unit out when you need to use it.

Q: 8. I have 3 Nikon DSLRs D800, D600, D700 and a Canon XA10 what do I need to connect these to work with the V-1HD. (to convert 720p60 to 1080p60 or convert 1080p30 to 1080p60). Or alternatively can I input 1080p60 from the switcher even when my inputs are 720p60?

A: With the Roland V-1, you must select one of these as your input signal: 1080i, 1080p, or 720p. Except for the D700 which is a stills only camera, all the camera's do 1920 x 1080P. Set that on the camera's plus the Roland and you are set.

Q: 9. Is the app for IPAD only or will it work with other tablets?

A: At this point they only have an APP for iOS for the V-1HD. You will not be able to control it with an Android Device. The V-1HD also has dedicated computer software for both Mac and PC, so you do have the option of controlling it with a computer as well.

Q: 10. Has anyone used the Chroma Key features and does it work well? Does anyone have experience to know how it might compare to the Blackmagic ATEM Switcher Chroma Key features?

A: Yes, I have used the chroma key. And it works better than I thought it would. The only difference in this versus BM atem is the user interface. For the roland you just turn on the effect and move the dial till it keys out what you need.
