The HPE Networking Instant On 1830 switch featuring an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 512MB of memory, 215MB of flash storage, and a 1.5MB packet buffer. It's designed to deliver smooth data transfers with a 16 Gb/s switching capacity and 11.9 Mpps forwarding rate.

The HPE Networking Instant On mobile app allows you to remotely configure, monitor, and manage your network switch without needing any additional hardware such as cloud keys or a VPN. You can also update firmware on your Instant On devices directly from the cloud, no matter where you are or what time it is.

This switch includes four PoE+ complaint ports with a 65W power budget. Features such as automatic power configuration and scheduling allow you to efficiently operate your connected devices.

The cloud-hosted web interface and mobile app make it easy to remotely manage multiple sites and multiple networks with distributed and multi-tenant deployments. Each site is logically separated and has its own configuration, statistics, guest portal, and admin read/write privileges. Instant On also allows you to create three admin accounts per site, offering the option to lock accounts from accidental deletion.

This switch supports up to 16 groups of eight network ports, which may be configured to form high-bandwidth connections to compatible devices.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this passive poe?

A: No, the Ubiquiti Networks UISP-R 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Router uses active PoE, 802.3af.

Q: 2. Can this be powered by DC plug or POE only?

A: The Aruba Instant On AP17 Outdoor Access Point is POE only. 802.3af PoE, 13.5W Max

Q: 3. Can 2 of these be mounted side by side with the included brackets?

A: No, the included brackets of the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch 8-Port 150-Watt Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switch with SFP BH #UBES8150W do not allow for side by side mounting.

Q: 4. How many of the 16-port switch's ports support PoE+?

A: All ports *support* PoE+ but I suspect that's not what you're asking. The max per-port power is 34.2W and the max *shared* power is 150W so you could in theory be limited to 4 usable ports if your individual devices were drawing 34W. In the real world you'll need to account for the actual peak power draw of each PoE+ device. PoE+ is 15W+ (otherwise it's just PoE) so with the most *minimal* PoE+ devices drawing 15W+ you might be able to use 9 or 10. If you want to fully load the switch with power hungry devices then you probably want one of the 24-port switches with more available power.

Q: 5. Would this be good for gaming on multiple devices, streaming on twitch, and other workloads at the same time? would my ping go up ingame?

A: This device will handle gaming workloads without any issues. It is a business class device designed for higher throughput.

Q: 6. I have a small Ubiquiti network managed under a CloudKey. Is this router compatible and can it be configured by the cloudkey?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UISP-R 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Router is not compatible with Cloud Key.

Q: 7. Does this require an Aruba account and/or cloud-based management? I need to set up an air-gapped network and all network management/configuration needs to happen locally. This would be attached via a 1Gbps port on an existing managed router.

A: Yes, the Aruba Instant On AP22 Dual-Band Access Point with 12V Power Adapter require an Aruba account for setup. A local connection can suffice as well. More information can be found at https://www.arubainstanton.com/techdocs/en/content/get-started/application-login.htm

Q: 8. Does it come with the stand?

A: Included in the box with the Aruba Instant On AP11D Desk/Wall Access Point With DC Power Adapter and Cord, would be the following., Aruba Instant On AP11D Desk/Wall Access Point With DC Power Adapter and Cord, DC Power Adapter and Cord, Single-Gang Mount Kit, Desk Mount Kit with RJ45 Jumper Cable, Ethernet Cable, 24/7 Phone Support for 90 Days, and Limited 2-Year Warranty with Chat Support.

Q: 9. Why can I see everything connected to this toughswitch like a hub instead of only the device on the port I am connected to? Is this actually a switch?

A: Please clarify your question. If you configure the ports to be on the same (or no) VLAN then you will see all devices on all ports.Switch works very well.

Q: 10. is the switch configured with a web browser of the controller software?

A: The Switch will try to auto setup its IP via DHCP if that fails it will default to 192.168.1.2. You can use that address to use the interface.
