The F21c RGBWW LED Mat from amaran is a powerful, versatile, and flexible LED mat that measures 2 x 1'. It offers outstanding light output and color rendering suitable for a variety of users, from filmmakers to videographers, content creators, and still photographers. Providing 100W of power, it features RGBWW LEDs for complete color control, as well as tunable CCT from 2500 to 7500K, providing endless possibilities for creative lighting selections through 360° HSI control, 46 color gel presets, and 15 unique customizable lighting effects. It has stellar CRI and TLCI scores of 95+ and 97+, and stepless dimming from 0 to 100%. An included folding X-frame stretches the mat to a rigid panel that can be attached directly to a C-stand grip head using the straight Baby Pin adapter, or onto any standard light stand with the included right angle Baby Pin and tilting stand mount. The included foldable softbox has two strengths of diffusion, and a fabric grid that uses an integrated hook-and-loop fabric to instantly turn this flexible mat into an ultrathin soft light that will add beautifully controlled soft light to a scene.

The control box is a multi-voltage AC power supply that features a V-mount battery plate for use with compatible 14.4V, 26V, or 28.8V batteries. Full output can be achieved when using the AC power supply, using batteries allows the F21c to be used at either half or full power, depending on battery strength.

The free Sidus Link app makes it possible to utilize tools unique to the Aputure and amaran ecosystems, such as Source Match, Color Picker, and Custom FX. The F21c can also be controlled using DMX with a separately available USB-C to 5-Pin DMX512 in & out adapter cable, adding professional-level control to an individual unit or groups of lights. The amaran F21c is ideal for videographers who need a versatile and literally flexible lighting solution. The RGBWW flexible panel gives users unmatched strength and control over a wide, expanded CCT range to match a variety of white light environments.

I rented this light for a couple of projects after someone recommended that I give it a try, and I just purchased my own. It take a second to set up, especially if using the diffusion that it comes with. However once ready it is a workhorse. One of its biggest advantages is how light it is. Being a flexlight, I can get it right over subjects with very low risk of something going wrong. It makes a great hair light, especially with it's grid, and makes a handy key as well with it being a fairly large, soft surface of 2x2. I have yet to tape it up, but it is definitely light enough with some solid tape. It runs for a good amount of time off v mount, and if you have a set to cycle through, you shouldn't run into any problems (I have not tested to see exact time on full off v mount, but it has lasted me at least 3-4 hours on 10-20%) The one I rented seemed to be an older design that at times looked a little janky, but upon purchase the first thing I noticed was how much more secure the new design was. I am no longer worried about the back possibly slipping out, which was my only concern. I doubt it would have been designed with that flaw, but it was always in the back of my mind. The arm on the back holds it securely in place while also being super easy to remove and set up. I cannot recommend this light to people enough if you are someone who might be a one man show or with a small team. With it being light, powerful, full RGB, and with many unique uses - it is a must have. 5

This light box more than justified my upgrade from my old Diva Lite (the one with the 2' fluorescent tubes). I needed something super light weight that also had superior RGB control, and this delivered exactly that. That in itself is only worth 4 stars. The fifth star is for the color reproduction in photographs, which delivers clearly defined individual colors along the entire spectrum. Rather than smash the colors in a portrait into two or three colors, this light allowed me to capture all the individual yellows, pinks, blues, greens, violets and reds fantastically. The Amaran delivers color reproduction practically as good as north daylight. Although I typically set the temperature to 5500 and adjust the green and magenta accordingly, I also have the option of choosing the hue and dialing the chroma as needed. The extraordinary light weight of the box allows me to attach it to an especially long boom and attach that to a c stand. With the Diva Lite I could barely get 3 feet of extension, and even with a couple sandbags on the base you'd still see the c stand bend, making me super nervous. I can get over 5 feet with the Amaran, and you can see that it doesn't challenge the c stand at all. I could probably push it to 6 feet if I wanted to. I'm glad I ignored my the sinking feeling in my stomach sprung for the full 2x2 instead of the 2x1. It was worth it. 5

This is now my favorite light in my indie lighting kit. The color accuracy, quality, brightness, softness, and build quality are second to none. At first I was hesitant to start spending money on more expensive fixtures like this one, but you get what you pay for in lighting and I’m learning the hard way: “buy the best once, or buy it twice”. 5

This is a good light to extend out on an arm over talent. It is light weight. Many people rig to a menace arm. I would recommend purchasing a 2.5 inch gobo head to mount the rear baby pin to in order to get greater flexibility with tilting the light. ( I did receive the upgraded mounting bracket with baby pin. ) I would also recommend purchasing the Aputure lightning clamp that allows the the ballast to attach via quick release to the light stand or to a grid pipe in a studio rig. This is more stable than just hanging the ballast by the provided cable. 5
