Q: 1. Can the Datavideo 4K Up/Down Cross Converter do ROI Scaling?

A: No, DAC-45 will not do ROI scaling. Please look at our KMU-100 4K Multi-camera processor if you are looking for ROI scaling. KMU-100 allows you to take 4 ROI SDI outputs from one 4K camera.

Q: 2. Can this scale an HDMI in to HDMI out? (With no SDI connections) We need to go from 1080p60 HDMI to 2160p29.97 HDMI.

A: The Decimator 12G-CROSS 4K HDMI/SDI Cross Converter with Scaling and Frame Rate Conversion, is able to convert any SMPTE formats from HDMI to HDMI or SDI output, and can convert an input of 1080p60 through HDMI to an output of 2160p29.97 HDMI.

    Q: 3. will this unit convert 1080p 24 to 1080p or i 50 ?

    A: You bet it will.

Q: 4. Does it pass over the Canon or ARRI recording trigger after conversion?

A: No, the DECIMATOR 12G-CROSS 4K HDMI/SDI Cross Converter does not pass recording triggers through the converter at this time.

Q: 5. If the unit is receiving a 4k HDMI input, can it convert to 1080 over SDI while simultaneously outputting 4k HDMI out?

A: The SCIENCE IMAGE FLOW 4K 12G-SDI/HDMI Up/Down/Cross Converter can only perform one conversion at a time.

    Q: 6. I see the spec's say DCI 4K(4096 x 2160) but does it do UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) ?

A: Hi Mike, This is Jules from product support at Symbiosis, Decimator's master distributor for the US. The 12G-Cross supports all SMPTE formats up to and including 4K (4096) 60p. This includes all SMPTE compliant UHD formats of 3840x2169 up to 60p. It also supports a range of VESA formats. I hope this helps. Kind Regards Jules

Q: 7. Is it possible to force the output HD-SDI signal type to be 1080p @ 29.97 regardless of the HDMI or VGA input frequency? and does HDCP pass through this device, such as putting this in line with a computer to a TV and tapping off to use for recording from the HD-SDI output?

A: I use this device for connecting various computers to my professional video switching systems. Yes, whatever the input is, the output is a stable signal at a number of different standards, including 1080p @29.97.I haven't run across any problems with HDCP blocking my use of the signal. That said, I don't recommend using ANY product to bypass HDCP protocols.YMMV....Good luck!Kevin Lawson

Q: 8. Can you go in through HDMI and out through SDI?

A: Yes, the Decimator 12G-Cross supports cross converting different types of signals.

Q: 9. Can I take a 4k HDMI signal and Convert it to 1080p HDMI out. At the same time loop out the original 4k HDMI signal to 4k SDI out?

A: Yes, you will be able to receive and send a 4K SDI signal and also send a 1080p HDMI signal.

Q: 10. I have a Free To Air Satellite Receiver that receives and displays most Ku Band Satellite TV channels in 720p HD format, which is watchable but oftentimes annoying; nowhere near the 1080i quality I would like. So if I ran an HDMI cable from the Free To Air satellite reciever to the Up Converter, and another HDMI cable from the converter to my TV, will I get the nice crystal clear detailed 1080i picture instead? Or will it still look fuzzy and kind of out of focus? I'm willing to blow the money for your product if it will display in true clear detailed 1080i quality. I hope you can please let me know. Thanks!

A: This is a great converter. I've bought a few of them for various applications. It will absolutely do the conversion you're asking about. The quality you get on the output will be entirely dependant upon what you put in. If your source is HD then you can expect a good picture going up to 1080.
