Developed for Nikon's range of high-resolution DX-format cameras, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is a versatile 27-210mm-equivalent all-in-one zoom covering a wide-angle to mid-telephoto range. Helping to achieve impressive image quality, the optical design employs one aspherical element and one extra-low dispersion element, which both help to limit spherical and chromatic aberrations in order to realize great sharpness and color accuracy. Individual elements also feature a Super Integrated Coating, which cuts flare and ghosting to increase contrast when working in harsh lighting conditions. Benefitting handheld shooting, Vibration Reduction minimizes the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops in order to produce sharper imagery. Additionally, a Silent Wave Motor affords fast, near-silent autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override.

All-in-one zoom spans wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths and is designed for Nikon F-mount DX-format cameras, where it provides a 27-210mm equivalent range.

One aspherical element is used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

One extra-low dispersion element greatly reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.

A Super Integrated Coating has been applied to individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.

Silent Wave Motor affords quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. An internal focusing design is also used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

VR (Vibration Reduction) image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by 4 stops to benefit shooting handheld in difficult lighting conditions.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this lens be used with a lens doubler, and if so, what would you recommend?

A: No, this lens cannot be used with a telephoto extender.

Q: 2. Does this lens come with a hood and semi soft case (mentioned in some cases but in the case of this lens)

A: No, it does not. According to the Nikon website all that will be included with this lens will be the LC-67 snap on front lens cap and the LF-4 rear lens cap.

Q: 3. Does this lens come with a USA or World warranty?

A: B&H carries a USA and Imported option of the lens. The lens that says Imported on its page will come with a 1-year warranty through B&H. Please note: Nikon USA will not service lenses they deem to be Imported items. The USA version of the lens will come with Nikons USA warranty, which is 1-year international and 4 more years USA.

Q: 4. I have d5600 with this lense. When i set the focal length to 35mm does that equate to 50mm? I want to get a prime lens and usually have this set a 35mm. Would i be looking at buying the a 35 or 50 dx lense?

A: Yes - at 35 mm this is equivalent to 52.5 mm on a full frame camera. The Nikon 35 mm f1.8 prime is a great lens and a real bargain. The 50 mm prime is equivalent to 75mm.

Q: 5. Where was this lens refurbished? i.e. Is this a Nikon factory refurbished lens?

A: This lens has been refurbished by Nikon trained and certified technicians.

Q: 6. Compatible with D3100?

A: The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens will be fully compatible with the D3100.

Q: 7. Will this work on a D 700? And will it work with the on camera flash or is it too large?

A: Yes, it will fit on the D700. But it is an APS-C sensor lens so it will crop the D700 to APS-C and that is 1.5 times. So it will crop and you will lose over double the pixels. As for the pop up flash and that lens if you are close to the subject there is a good chance you will get a shadow caused by the lens.

Q: 8. Is there any warranty with the refurbished lens? (18-140)

A: This lens has a Limited 90-Day Warranty.

Q: 9. is this lens compatible with the D750?

A: This is a DX series lens, designed for cropped sensor Nikon cameras like D500 D7500 D7200 D7100 D7000 D5600 D5500 D5300 and so on. With that said, it can be made to work on the D750 which is a full frame camera. Nikon full frame cameras can be set to recognize when a DX series lens is attached. And here's the downside. When the DX lens is attached it turns off about half of the sensor so that the area where the image is captured is reduced to the same area as is found on a cropped sensor camera. So instead of a 24mp image you get about an 11mp image.

Q: 10. Hey do you know when you will be getting more of these in? Also what's the difference in image quality between this one and the Nikon 18-105mm? Thank you!

A: Connor, I trades my 18-105mm at B&H suggestion for the 18-140mm. I love the 18-140mm, takes terrific photos & of course has more range than the 105mm. Used it a great deal on safari in Africa, even tho I had a 300mm. It's a terrific normal lens for close up shots around the Christmas tree. To it's slightly bigger than the standard 50mm, it is worth it.Dave
