Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is secondary power supply available?

A: No, the Ubiquiti Networks Switch Enterprise XG 24 24-Port 10G Managed Network Switch with 25G SFP28 does not support the option for a secondary internal power supply.

Q: 2. Will this work with an early 2009 Mac Pro (4,1)?

A: Yes, it is compatible. For more specs about your Mac you can check out: EveryMac https://everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-quad-core-2.66-early-2009-nehalem-specs.html

Q: 3. How noisy is this switch?

A: This switch is super quiet.

Q: 4. Will this card enable AVB support on my MacPro 4.1 (flashed to 5.1)?

A: Yes, this support AVB.

Q: 5. Will this work on the ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard?

A: Yes, this will work with that model of motherboard.

Q: 6. Can we aggregate several devices with 2x 10GBe each?

A: This is what we use this for. We have three USW-48P-500W with both of their SPF+ ports LAG uplinked to the ES-16-XG.

Q: 7. Do we need additional power supply to use the switch or will it consume power over LAN (input) using PoE?

A: The main unit needs a power supply. All 5 LAN ports are PoE.

Q: 8. How many of the 16-port switch's ports support PoE+?

A: All ports *support* PoE+ but I suspect that's not what you're asking. The max per-port power is 34.2W and the max *shared* power is 150W so you could in theory be limited to 4 usable ports if your individual devices were drawing 34W. In the real world you'll need to account for the actual peak power draw of each PoE+ device. PoE+ is 15W+ (otherwise it's just PoE) so with the most *minimal* PoE+ devices drawing 15W+ you might be able to use 9 or 10. If you want to fully load the switch with power hungry devices then you probably want one of the 24-port switches with more available power.

Q: 9. Does the us-16-xg come with ears for rack mounting?

A: The mounting brackets are included.

Q: 10. Pardon my ignorance but I'm not an IT guy. I am purchasing three Sony PTZ cameras that will power with POE. Normally you would look all three via cat 5 but there are many times when the distance of all three combined would be over 100m which is the typical max length of POE from what I gather. If I take the control cable from the PTZ cameras into this box, cam I simultaneously feed 3 cat 5 POE to each camera 100M each? Or is this strictly a switched output rather than using it as a splitter.

A: I would recommend using a Ubiquiti Networks 50V PoE Adapter with Gigabit LAN Port at each desired end location. Injecting power at the site of the PTZ camera at a closer point dropping the distance limitations.
