The mic gives you the choice of cardioid or omnidirectional pickup patterns. Cardioid is great for untreated rooms, as it minimizes audio pickup behind and to the sides of the capsule. In omni, the mic will pick up sound from all sides, making it the better choice to pick up more than one person at a time.

A: This mic would not work for meetings in my opinion. You need to be 5 inches Max. from it for proper recording.It's great for VO recording directly into the computer.

A: The Snowball features two pickup pattern options, cardioid which is a more focused narrow pickup from the front of the mic, and an omni-directional pickup which captures sound evenly from all sides of the mic. This can be used for multiple subjects when placed correctly.

A: The stand is metal, just the tips of the feet are rubber, which provides some isolation.
