Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the expiration date?

A: B&H buys and sells ink in bulk. In general we regularly maintain fresh ink stock. All of our ink is at least 6 months from expiration (typically much longer). Unfortunately we do not have access to our inventory to hand inspect the expiration date of any of our inks prior to purchase.

Q: 2. How many 4 x 6 prints can I expect to print before replacing the ink cartridge? What is the average yield per ink cartridge?

A: I purhcased these for a friends printer..........and he rarely prints photos from it (maybe 4-5 per monht. But he did print almost a ream of paper per month. Under those circumstances, since 2014, we have never replaced the color cartridge and the black one has been replaced about 3 time per year.Sorry I can't be of more help but my printer where I do a lot of photoprinting uses different cartridges.

Q: 3. I owe a canon mp600 printer, I need to shoot a 3 day convention and I want to know how much ink will I need for the 3 days. How many pictures 5x7 can I print with one of this ink packs? How many I will need?

A: Canon does not publish page-yield on their consumer printer inks. Your best option is to purchase extra packs. Whatever you do not use, you can save for later, or return any unopen packs to B&H within 30 days of purchase.

Q: 4. Do these inks work with the Canon Pro9500- Markll?

A: No the ink for that printer is: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/493644-REG/Canon_1033B005_PGI_9_Ink_Cartridge_Kit.html

Q: 5. On the box of the 10 color ink tank value pack that I have ,there is a green Cartridge but yours show a co cartridge what color is that ??

A: As far as I know, the only printer using pgi-72 inks is the Canon Pro 10. There is no green for that printer. My i9900 used 8 inks, one of which was green. The Pro 10 substituted gray and an extra black for green, plus the optimizer. You should never put in an ink that the printer doesn't call for and wouldn't know how to use.

Q: 6. Is the ink for the PRO_10 also used in the PRO-100.

A: No, they are different. Canon 100 have cartridges labeled CLI 42 and the Pro 10 has cartridges labeled PGI 72.

Q: 7. what does the chroma optimizer mean for the black cartridges?

A: Chroma Optimizer levels the ink droplet height in order to enhance the glossiness and flatten the print surface, as well as expanding color gamut

Q: 8. How many 8x10 best quality color prints does this pack yield?

A: This is really an imponderable question. The number of prints it can produce varies with each image. Is it color or B&W? If you're printing more B&W than color, you'll run out of the black and gray inks faster. (That's one reason the black ink tanks are bigger.) It's my experience that you'll run out of magenta quicker than anything else. But, again, it depends largely on the color composition of the images you print. Sorry I can't be more exact. However, since you're using a Pixma Pro-1 printer, you're using more inks than any other printer on the market, except for the Canon iPF printers, which are significantly more expensive than the Pixma printers. The Pixma printers are also the highest quality printers available for the range of paper sizes it can handle. If you truly need the best quality, the number of prints you can get from a new kit of ink tanks is immaterial.

Q: 9. What is the difference between an Ink Tank and an Ink Cartridge as regards to Canon Pro9000 MkII?

A: It is the same thing. You buy all teh 8 cartridge in a value pack

Q: 10. What is the ML size of this tank? Alternately, what is the page yield for the PGI-250XL (22ML) tank? Thanks, danny izzo

A: The Canon PGI-250PGBK Black Ink Tank is about 13mil and yields approximately 100-300 pages. Unfortunately Canon does not publish data on page yield for the 22 PGI-250PGBK XL.

My pictures print true to color. This ink does the job every time. The ease of changing ink cartridges is great!

In my office, I use mostly laserjet printers but for the 2 injets we still have, I would say the Canon doesn't waste as much ink. I buy from B&H b/c it has the best price on ink and toner.

I use this product to print high quality photos. I do not trust 'Compatible Cartridges' for the stuff I do or for the longevity of my printer.

My Wife is the scrapbooking Queen and I am the picture printer. I have always used Canon printers and ink. Her oldest scrapbooks are 14 years old and the pictures are as crisp and clear as the day they were printed. One thing that's not so great is the new ink cartridges are black so you can't tell when the ink is really gone. You can not trust the printer to tell you when the ink is really used up.

I purchased this ink set for my Canon Pixma MX882 combination scanner, fax, and printer. This ink was developed for use with this printer and it works well. However, I wish the cartridges were larger so that I wouldn't run out of ink so often.

Product was as advertised. Genuine Canon cartridges. Good price and value. Don't forget if you have a mx882 you will need some thin blk cartridges not included in this pack.

I use these inks with the MG8228 or some reference like that. The high end of personal, multifunction inkjet (meaning pretty low end in photography!). I'm actually very glad with the results for the price. I had a similar HP printer that was horrific and made me swear to never go HP again. It died after 2 years of very light use, thank you HP. The reason it was so lightly used was the disgusting colors I was getting: muddy is the best description I can give. Now with the Canon I get good colors and since I calibrated my monitor, actually very good, acurate and pleasing colors. Even better when used with proper paper (Canon Platinum, Canon Bright White Art, ...) Those cartiges last much longer than HP for a similar price. Also, the system makes sense and the printer, operations, drivers (on Mac), wifi, etc. etc. are all very pleasing (although a little beyond this review's scope). I'm glad I print Canon and find those inks to work very well for me. Slight issue though for black & white photo printing: it's reddish. These dry fast and don't smudge. I find that the printer doesn't need to spray too much so the paper doesn't get soaked, but the colors are still vivid.
