This Cyanotype Processing Kit from Flic Film lets you create unique imagery on a number of different mediums. The cyanotype process was conceived by Sir John Herschel in 1842 and the formula has remained essentially unchanged until today. It is a non-toxic simple approach to making prints by laying a negative over treated paper and exposing it to the sun. It can also be used for photograms, an image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material and then exposing it to light. Water colour paper or cotton cloth are both excellent mediums for cyanotype printing. Cyanotypes can be toned to different colours after being bleached. Toners can be tea, coffee, wine or any other tannic acid rich liquid.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where do you get cine film developed?

A: B&H offes Store drop off film developing services. There are also multiple photo labs that provide this service. I would recomend reserching for ECN-2 Process photo labs near you.

Q: 2. Will I need to double batch to develop a roll of Super 8?

A: How many batches of the Flic Film ECN-2 Processing Kit for 8 Rolls (0.5L) you will need will depend how long your super 8 film is. This chemistry though is for film that had the remjet layer removed. It won't work if your super 8 film still has the remjet layer on it.

Q: 3. Will this tank work for color film development as well (with the appropriate chemistry) or just with B&W film?

A: The CineStill Film JOBO MONO Film Processing Kit is only for B&W film.

Q: 4. I see everyone using the changing bag and basically doing this blind. What I wonder is can you just do it in lets say a closet with a safety bulb, kind of like a make shift dark room?

A: If you have access to a light tight space, you may load your film there instead of using a changing bag. Unfortunately, loading your film to a tank must been done in complete darkness, changing bag or light-tight room otherwise.

Q: 5. How many rolls of film can you develop with this kit?

A: The ILFORD Simplicity Starter Pack that is included with this kit allows you to process one roll of 120 or two rolls of 35mm film in a two-reel, 600mL developing tank

Q: 6. With this kit does one need to also purchase/use an enlarger?

A: Yes, an enlarger is separate, click the link below to view your options; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=enlarger&sort=PRICE_LOW_TO_HIGH&filters=fct_category%3Aenlargers_546

Q: 7. Are the reels included in this kit the convertible ones that allow you to do 35mm along with 120 film?

A: Yes, the reels included with the Paterson Film Processing Starter Kit are adjustable for 35mm, 126, 127, 120 or 220 film formats.

Q: 8. What is the temperature range of the controller? Can it maintain 68 F, for black and white processing?

A: The manufacture does not list the temperature the heater works with but it is for processing so the Flic Film Precision Temperature Water Bath should be fine for regulating at 68 F. But note it does not have a cooler only a heater. So if the room you are in is over 68 degrees that could be an issue.

Q: 9. Can i fly the kit? If i purchase this in NYC, i want to take this with me to Mexico. Does anyone know if i can carry this?

A: The Paterson Film Processing Starter Kit can be shipped. But as carry on you need to contact the air line you are flying with to ask them.

Q: 10. There are complaints about the instructions. How clear are the instructions?

A: Here are the instructions for the Flic Film Precision Temperature Water Bath: https://bhpho.to/4dRbxLz.
