Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this Graid shuttle with M1 MacBook Pro?

A: The SanDisk G-RAID Shuttle 4 is compatible with macOS 10.15 and later and Windows 10.

Q: 2. Has this concern been addressed: Apple’s M1-based computers require your G-RAID software to override kernel permissions?

A: There is no official statement regarding this issue with the SanDisk Professional G-RAID Shuttle 4, but other users seem to have developed a workaround. Here is a public discussion detailing a solution: https://bhpho.to/3tiaNwM

Q: 5. I have a 2014 IMac 5k 27 inch. Will the thunderbolt cable work with this machine? Does it come with a usb compatible cable?

A: Because your 2014 27" 5K iMac has Thunderbolt 2 ports and the SanDisk Professional G-RAID Shuttle 4 24TB 4-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array (4 x 6TB) uses Thunderbolt 3 (and has its own power supply), you could use a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, like the Apple Thunderbolt 3 Male to Thunderbolt 2 Female Adapter (B&H APMMEL2AMA), and a Thunderbolt 2 cable to connect this RAID device to your iMac.

Q: 6. Can larger drives be used to replace the 6TB included drives to increase the overall capacity?

A: The enclosure can be used with larger drives. Depending on the drives and RAID modes used will determine the capacity available.

Q: 7. Can a second computer connect and access files while the first computer is still connected and writing to the drive/s?

A: Only 1 computer may connect to the SanDisk Professional G-RAID Shuttle at a time.

Q: 8. Is USB-C fast enough to edit 4K video from this external array or can I only use thunderbolt for that purpose?

A: The SanDisk Professional 160TB G-RAID Shuttle 8 8-Bay RAID Array (8 x 20TB, Thunderbolt 3 & USB 3.2 Gen 2) will still offer suitable speeds for 4K video editing from a USB-C host connection.

Q: 9. What model number are the 20TB drives in the 160TB version? Are they CMR or SMR drives?

A: The SanDisk Professional 160TB G-RAID Shuttle 8 8-Bay RAID Array (8 x 20TB, Thunderbolt 3 & USB 3.2 Gen 2) BH #SAGPH48H8160 does not specify the drives in the enclosure as they can vary.

Q: 10. Does B&H stock replacement caddies for this drive, or can a potentially faulty drive just be replaced with an Ultrastar Enterprise on the faulty drive's caddy?

A: A drive can be replaced using the original caddy included with the device.
