Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this unit come with the RG8 cables and power breakout connector like the bundle with the DFin?

A: The RF Venue Distro9 HDR Multi-Zone Antenna Distribution System does not ship with the RG8 cables and the power breakout connector; the only cable included with the unit is the standard IEC power cord.

Q: 2. Can I use this with Lectrosonics systems and if so, how do I hook it up to my transmitter/receiver/mixer?

A: Yes, the RF Venue Diversity Fin Antenna with Stand Mount for Wireless Microphone Systems is compatible for use with Lectrosonics wireless receivers operating within the 470-608MHz range. The Diversity Fin has two BNC connections onboard for connecting to corresponding receiver antenna outputs. If you are using multiple receivers, you can connect them all to a single diversity fin using an antenna distribution system. BH #RFDFINDISTRO RF Venue 4-Channel Antenna Distributor with Cloth-Covered Diversity Fin Antenna and Cables Bundle is a good option for this scenario: https://bhpho.to/34K2Fcy

Q: 3. how many antennas this kit provide?

A: The Diversity Fin parts kit includes six whip antennas and two mounting blocks with hardware.

Q: 4. Is this an active or passive antenna?

A: Passive

Q: 5. Will this work as a replacement antenna for the psm600 transmitter?

A: This would work with PSM systems but you just have to make sure you purchase the antenna that matches the frequency range your PSM system is using. This antenna is available in 12 different frequency ranges. Make sure the one you purchases matches the system you already own.

Q: 6. Does the bundle include the 12v power adapter cables?

A: Yes. The 4 power cables are attached to the combiner unit and plug directly to and power up the individual channel units.

Q: 7. What are the small gaskets for?

A: There are no small gaskets on the Shure UA8 1/2 Wave Omnidirectional Receiver Antenna (578-638 MHz). It is a BNC connector and it bends 90-degrees after the BNC connector. The rest of the assembly is the attached connected antenna.

Q: 8. Can this item be mounted on a standard C-stand stud?

A: Yes, the RF Venue Diversity Fin Antenna with Stand Mount can be mounted on a standard C-stand stud. You will need a 5/8" receiver adapter with a male thread on the other end. The antenna features a mounting block with 1/4"-20, 3/8"-16, and 5/8"-27 threads to secure it on the stand, so you have plenty of flexibility for the adapter. The Manfrotto 014-38 Rapid Adapter - 5/8" Stud to 3/8" Thread (B&H # MA01438) is one example of an adapter that can be used.

Q: 9. Why does it not have a gain switch to account for the signal loss within the BNC cable?

A: The RF Venue Diversity Fin Antenna with Stand Mount for Wireless Microphone Systems (Black, 470 to 698 MHz) does not include a gain feature as it is a passive antenna. Active antennas can pose risks such as overloading the RF front end of a receiver system, and you can easily overload by using an active antenna’s gain control at a setting that is disproportionally strong for the cable run’s length. A good practice would be to implement passive antennas, and then only add in-line amplifiers to make up for transmission line loss if doing very long cable runs of more than 100 feet.

Q: 10. Can you combine IEM and IFB RF signals of different output strengths? For instance I have a Lectrosonics M2T that has two output carriers of 50mw each. and a Lectrosonics T4 IFB transmitter that outputs 250mw. Can I combine them all with this to a single antenna?

A: It is possible to use transmitters with different power output levels with the RF Venue COMBINE4 - 4-Channel Antenna Combiner. This combiner is a unity device that does not affect or change the output strength of the transmitters connected. It does, however, have a maximum input level of 100mW and would not be compatible for use with a transmitter pushing 250mW such as the Lectrosonics IFBT4.
