Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens hood on the f4 have the slider to rotate a circular polarizer like hood on the 2.8 ?

A: No, it does not. According to Canon USA, the ET-83G(WIII) Lens Hood does not include the slider like the ET-83F(W III) which allows for easy adjustment of a polarizer filter.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with Canon EOS 5D Mark IV?

A: The Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens can only mount onto the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR Camera using the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R: https://bhpho.to/2wL8wZY.

Q: 3. Have you heard any rumors that Any rumors if Canon is going to produce and extender 2.0 or other for the RF 70-200?

A: We have no information about a 2X extender for the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Lens.

Q: 4. Does Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM lens work with 2x canon rf 70-200mm f2.8l is usm with 2x teleconverter?

A: Unfortunately, at this time, there are no teleconverters designed for use on the Canon RF lens mount. The Canon Extender EF 2X III is not compatible for use on the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM lens.

Q: 5. Does this lens extend physically when zooming?

A: Yes, internal focus only, not zoom.

Q: 6. How many blades does this lens have?

A: This lens has 9 rounded aperture blades.

Q: 7. The digital picture says this lens is less sharp then the EF version at 200mm. Can anyone confirm?

A: These lenses are quite comparable in terms of image quality. We have not seen any significant difference in sharpness at 200mm. The bigger difference here is the size. And the RF lens definitely wins on that end, being much more compact.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with a 5D S?

A: No.

Q: 9. Good morning, Interested if the Lens hood can still be used at the same time as a 82mm ND Filter placed on the front of the lens with a 77 to 82mm adapter? Would the Lens Hood have to be taken off in that case? Thank you

A: The hood can only be used when using a 77mm filter since the lens is made for use with 77mm filters. A larger filter would interfere with the manufacturers hood on any lens. If your 82mm filter has front threads you can use a 3rd party screw on 82mm hood instead.

Q: 10. is this compatible with the Canon Extender EF 2X II ?

A: No, the RF 70-200 f/2.8 L is not compatible with the Canon Extender EF 2X II. The Canon Extender EF 2X II only works on EF lenses. Additionally, this RF 70-200 f/2.8 is not compatible with any extender. Consider using an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 or the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z Lens with a Canon Extender RF 2X.

This works very well for me. Lightweight, and it works as it should. I leave it on all the time.

This lens is amazingly sharp, with excellent bokeh both behind and in front of the subject as you can see from the pic I uploaded. The constant f4 on an R5 feels like shooting with a f2.8 on a traditional DSLR. At first I thought I would miss the f2.8. But with the IS+IBIS that this f4 lens offers with the R5, you easily gain 2-3 stops of light with slower shutter speeds with no issue.

The only drawback I can see is if you do a lot of night sport or wildlife photography where you need the extra stop of light to support faster shutter speeds and for some reason you can't use higher ISO. However, so far I haven't run into that issue when combining this lens with the R5.

I bought this lens a few weeks ago, and I had the opportunity to use it at a corporate event this last week. It quickly became my go-to lens, and the images are flawless!!! I highly recommend this lens...great on my Canon EOS R5. Wow!

I bought this lens specifically for landscape and travel photography, so that I can have a long (ish) lens on me for longer, harder, hikes and backpacking stuff, without sacrificing image quality. I knew this lens would be good, and hit all those things, but man, after actually having it and using it, I just wasn't expecting it to be quite this awesome! It pairs incredibly well with my R5, R6, and even RP, in fact, I love having it on my RP for my timelapses and as my 3rd backup body when I'm out filming and timelapsing with the R5 and R6. I just can't believe how much difference the size and weight is making for me.

I've used Nikon equipment most of my life and decided to change to canon products. I recently acquired the R6 and using this lens is a great combination. Will consider other Canon lens to add to my hobby!

In my sports shooting younger years I lugged a full size Canon DSLR with a 70-200mm IS f2.8 attached every where. I'm retired now and love the reduced size and weight of the Canon R6 and RF 70-200mm f4 IS. It's quick, sharp, light and creates great images. Everything I need.
