Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the Rode SmartLav+?

A: No as the smartlav+ has a TRRS connection. The VXLR is a TRS to XLR adaptor only.

Q: 2. I have a Zoom h5. which lavalier mics do you recommend. When 2 are hooked up do I need to turn on phantom power on the Zoom for the 2 inputs. Is the recording mono or stereo?

A: I use a variety of lav mics. I mosty use Sony but I don't have the model in front of me. You'll need phantom power if your mics requre that. You'll need two mics to record in true stero but the Zoom might allow you to record mono to both L&R tracks.

Q: 3. Attempting to connect iphone se to Irig Pre to VXLT to Galagy GT-V Trek. Will this work. And can I take the IRIG headphone out and connect to mixer for monitoring/recording? Thanks

A: We are not aware of this working in that case.

Q: 4. If I am wanting to connect a Sennheiser Lavalier 3.5mm directly to my Zoom F3, should I get the VXLR or VXLR+?

A: The Sennheiser lavalier microphone requires a small amount of voltage in order to function, so you will want to use the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP), which will allow you to use phantom power from the XLR mic input on the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder and then convert it to the proper amount of plug-in power that the mic requires. The RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter (B&H # ROVXLR) will only convert the plug on the microphone from 3.5mm to XLR, but it will not convert phantom power to plug-in power.

Q: 5. Will my Sennheiser wireless lav mic which has the locking ring work with this adapter?

A: No, this adapter will not work with a lav mic that has a locking ring. It will not connect properly.

Q: 6. Will this adapter work from the rodelink wireless to Sony FS5 XLR?

A: While I do not own the FS5, the audio inputs on your camera are XLR at mic and line level. The Rode Link outputs to 1/8 jack and will connect to your camera via this adapter perfectly using the supplied (Rode) 1/8 short cable.

Q: 7. I have the Tascam DR-60 and two lavalier mics: Boya BY-M1 and Purple Panda. Will the Rode VXLR allow me to connect both microphones to my recorder?

A: If you have an adapter for each mic, I can't see why not. The Tascam has dual XLR inputs.

Q: 8. Will this work to conect a Hollyland lark max into a Zoom Podtrak?

A: The RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter can be used to connect a wireless receiver, such as the Hollyland Lark Max, to the XLR input of an audio recorder. However, the audio signal passed through the adapter can only be mono.

Q: 9. Is this Adapter OK to use with a Rode Video Mic Go Shotgun connecting to a Tascam 70D for phantom power? If it is what should the setting on the Tascam 70D be 24v or 48v?

A: No. You should not send phantom power to the Rode Video Mic. It operates on its own internal battery, which is charged via the USB cable.

Q: 10. I have a Rode Wireless Go and I want to plug the transmitter into the soundboard and the receiver will plug into my DSLR. What cable will I need from the VXLR to the transmitter?

A: This adapter would be to take the cable that comes out of the receiver and bring it in to an XLR input, not an output. We are not aware of an option that will allow you to feed a sound board in to the Rode Wireless Go's Transmitter at this time.
