Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter fit on a Canon EPS 10-18 lens?

A: You shouldn't have any problems with this combination.

Q: 2. Is this a thin filter? What is the thickness of it?

A: Although Hoya does not publish the thickness of the NXT Plus Circular Polarizer, it would not be the thinnest option from Hoya. You may want to look to the Hoya 72mm HD3 Circular Polarizer Filter, BH # HOCPHD372 which is less likely to cause vignetting on wide-angle lenses. https://bhpho.to/3LXhNmp

Q: 3. how many f stops of light transmission are reduced?

A: It has a filter factor of 2 to 4 (1 stop minimum, 2 stop maximum).

Q: 4. I do NOT want a slim profile filter. I am only interested in a 67mm CP filter. Is this a slim profile filter? thanks

A: The Hoya 67mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter is not a wide filter. It is a thin frame filter. This one is considered more of a standard frame, BH #BWCPB67 (https://bhpho.to/3WTjKsY).

Q: 5. Thickness of this filter when it is alone and after it is mounted? BP @ WC

A: The thickness of the filter frame is 5mm (not including the threads that attach to the front of the lens).

Q: 6. Hello,I noticed the only difference between this Hoya circular polarizer and last years model is this one is not coated. What is the benefit of a non-coated filter?Sincerely,Daniel

A: The main benefit of a non-coated filter is a lower price point. A multi-coated filter will provide dramatically improved light transmission and resistance to glare. If you have the option to spend more for multi-coating, I would definitely recommend it.

Q: 7. Does this filter rotate?

A: Yes, the circular polarizer rotates. it enable you to add contrast to colors outdoors, and remove the majority of unwanted reflections form non-metallic surfaces such as water or windows. Keep in mind that if you have a powerful light source 9such as the sun) in the frame, it will eliminate any polarization effects.

Q: 8. Is this the same filter as the Hoya NXT Circular Polarizer filter, just updated?

A: According to Hoya, the NXTPlus filters are improved over the NXT-series because they "use better glass, an improved multi-coating process, more multi-coated layers for better light transmission, AND add a new 'Waterproof' Top-coat to repel water quickly away from the surface which makes it easier to clean and more fun to use." For more info, please see Hoya's site here: https://bit.ly/3mo88dO

Q: 9. What is the difference between the NXT and the NXT PLUS filter?

A: The plus it multicoated to reduce ghosting and flares and it has top knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Q: 10. Will this filter Vignette image corners on a full frame camera with Canon EF 17-40 f4 L lens?I don't see the thickness in the specs, will 5mm work at 17mm? Thanks.

A: There is a possibility that this filter will vignette on the 17-40mmf/4 L lens. As an alternative, you may want to consider this item, B&H# HOCPSMC77, http://bhpho.to/1f9telF.

Photos: Very nice. The f/1.0 is needed for best Bokeh. Kai Wong and Lok Chung, The digital Rev guys; would love it. I adjusted the ISO. Used f/1.0

For video, Get used to manual focus. Can be used, but you need manual.

This lens has excellent qualities and I love the bokeh effect, it’s sharpness in the center and on the edges. I will use it quite often with my FujiFilm XT-4 camera. However, it has a couple of flaws. One doesn’t bother me too much, the second one is a little bit disappointing. 1st it’s a big heavy lens. 2nd Manual Focus is not exactly the way a user would expect it. I don’t know how to explain it well by words, but definitely is less direct and immediate than in other lenses. It’s like a sort of servo-motor is still engaged when you rotate the ring with your hand and that not only creates noise, but makes the whole operation of focusing manually, less pleasant and in my specific case longer. Now let me explain why I still have to this prime five stars, which is rare for me. Even though the manual focusing it is important, I have to agree that the AF is more than usable at f1.0 and many other prime lenses in this category are manual focus only, so basically the image quality is very, very good and the usability is good. Finally, I have seen a little bit of chromatic aberrations in the form of a slight purple color present in the highlights, but I think that in order to avoid that completely the lens would be way more expensive than what it is now. If this lens cost $200 less, then it would have a perfect value for money ratio.

Without a doubt my new fave on the XT3. I do a lot of event photography and really don't like using flash. This lens is remarkable in low light. You can bump the ISO up and still get insanely beautiful results. Maybe rent first before you buy but in my opinion a definite must-buy!

Just what I've been long for when shooting portraits with my Fuji X-T4. Definitely a new premiere bokeh producing lens.

50mm F1 is a great addition in the fujifilm lens Kit. It's a bit heavier then the 56mm 1.2, but the quality and light gathering of f/1 makes up for it. The 76mm focal length is perfect as it give you the telephoto look with a bit of the environment.

I sold my 56 1.2 for this lens and I must say I'm glad I did. This lens is just as sharp wide open and is quicker to focus than the 56 1.2 but it is substantial - you feel both the weight and the superb quality of the lens.
For video the autofocus is not as reliable but for photos I hardly miss a shot. If you don't mind the weight you'd love it. It is more than twice the weight of the 56 and it's also larger and heavier than the Viltrox 85 1.8.

I absolutely love using this lens and I’m so appreciative, that B&H sent me a replacement for the original which had silver debris in the front lens element.
My replacement arrived today, which gives me time to shoot couples portraits for Valentines Day!
This lens gives off a Medium Format feel and I’m elated to have it back in my camera bag!
