Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit on my D3400?

A: The Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED Lens will be compatible with the Nikon D3400.

Q: 2. dose this work with the nikon d7100?

A: yes it works really well

Q: 3. Does this lens work with d3200?

A: It should be compatible with the D3200.

Q: 4. Does this lens work using the complete full-frame capability with the D610?

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the D610. This is a FX format camera.

Q: 5. Compatible with D300?

A: The Nikon AF-S 18-55mm lens is compatible with the Nikon D300, yes.

Q: 6. Besides the difference in weight, would the FL version of this lens be any better than the VR ? Optics would be my only comparison. A tad difference in AF response may not matter much to me.

A: Be careful, BOTH versions have VR. The newest version has updated optics and is lighter. It is the best of both worlds. That is why Nikon discontinued the older version.

Q: 7. How is this lens in low lighting?

A: This lens is designed to compliment the 18-55mm kit lens. But it's not a very fast lens. F4 at 55mm and F5.6 at 200mm means it's not the best choice for low light situations.

Q: 8. Is this lens compatible with the NIKON D3100?

A: The AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D3100, including autofocus.

Q: 9. Is there some type of tripod mount adapter available for this lens?

A: Due to the small size and light weight of the Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens, Nikon does not have a tripod collar mount adapter designed for use with this lens. The only option I could find from a third-party manufacturer that may also work as a substitute would be the Benro LB200 Arca-Type Lens Bracket, B&H # BELB200, which would be compatible with tripod heads that use the universal Arca-type quick release connection system.

Q: 10. Does this lens (purchased new) come with the HB-36 hood?

A: My lens did come with the lens hood. I like the fact that the hood can be reverse-mounted when I'm not using the lens affording a little more protection in the camera bag. I've been very happy with the results I've gotten with the lens. I'd rate the quality as very high. It's fairly heavy. I'd make sure you want to carry the weight while you're out shooting.

I use the lens for birding and wildlife. Also, some portraits in the 70-100mm range. Very fast autofocus and the VR makes it very easy to hand-hold in decent light. Not the best lens for low light action shots but in this price range it is the best I have seen.

Bought to shoot portraits, slow action shots and have found it to be just as advertised. Light, very accurate, quiet and even through out it's f 4 - 5.6 range. My only concern is the construction. I have no misconceptions, it's a $ lens if you treat it gingerly it should be there for you - that's my plan.

This lens is fantastic. Tack sharp and fast focusing. The VR feature allows hand held operation when there is good light. Love this lens.

I use this for shooting sports and general photos outdoors. It is lightweight and easy to hand hold. The lens doesn't creep like my 70-200 did, so I very happy about that! I would definitely recommend this lens.

Great lens for just day-to-day shooting. Has an average zoom size, with capabilities to shoot up close.

I was looking for something inexpensive as a temporary wide zoom lens for my D2X and I bought this one. Surprisingly it is very sharp something you don't expect from a 100 dollars lens. Focus is not super fast but it is fast enough for me. I'm just very happy with it. No softness at any focal point. Love it.

Advanced shooter, This lens is expensive but well worth the investment. Fast autofocus, quality workmanship & amazing fetures. Lens is a bird & wildlife lens, but great for marco & portraits. Your first shooting experience will put a smile on your face that gets wider each time you use the lens.

This is a fantastic lens. Hand holdable at 300mm. Very sharp. Fast focus. VR works very well. I am very impressed. I bought a D700 with the kit 24-120 lens and was disappointed but never realized how bad the kit lens was until I got my hands on the 70-300.
