I used this lens taking pictures of bald eagles in flight. The images were extremely sharp and the colors were right on. I am very happy with this lens. 5

There were 234 mentions on this site that the lens was too heavy. Let me give you some facts:(1)the 70-200 that I sold was too heavy - it weighed 51.9 ozs. It was like carrying around an 80mm mortar shell. Because of that I rarely used it; (2) the 70-300 weighs 29.2 ozs.-that's 56% the weight of the 70-200; (3) the lens I use most is a 24-120 and it weighs 28.5 ozs. That's roughly the same weight as the 70-300. Now, if I can't carry around the 70-300 I'm going to quit photography after 50 years and go into a retirement home! I just tested the lens. Perfect photos. Very happy with sharpness, etc. It's an easy 5-star lens. 5

I bought my camera a few years ago but didn't have the money to buy a zoom lens. Up to now I only used the wide angle lens that cam with it but, now I am able to do so much more. I photograph many things but the most important is my children. It is great to now be able to zoom on them from a distance and capture those precious moments!! THe lens was absolutely what I expected. I love the zoom range and the smooth focusing. The only thing I didn't like is the bulky hood that came with it...but that's because I now have to buy a larger camera bag for it all to fit in. 5
