Sennheiser Me 2 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone With Locking 3.5mm Connector (black)
- Product Code: ga116917
-
The black Sennheiser ME 2 is a miniature professional lavalier microphone featuring a locking 3.5mm connector for Sennheiser transmitters and engineered for reliable, interference-resistant performance with wireless systems—making it a popular choice for presentations, interviews, broadcast work, and film/video applications.
With a speech-focused frequency response from 50 Hz to 18 kHz, the ME 2 filters out muddying lows and extreme highs to provide clear, intelligible results for instructors, journalists, and presenters in need of a solid workhorse lavalier they can depend on. The mic handles SPL levels up to 130 dB without distorting, while the omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from 360° around the capsule, helping to deliver consistent levels, even when the talent turns away from the capsule.
The ME 2 features a durable 5.2’ cable that provides ample room for movement and terminates in a locking 3.5mm connector wired for Sennheiser wireless transmitters. The electret condenser capsule requires 7.5V of power from your wireless transmitter, portable audio recorder, or similar compatible device. An integrated windscreen helps to reduce wind noise, and a lapel clip is included.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Can I use with Sony UTX-B40?
A: The Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector & Accessories cannot be used with a Sony transmitter such as the UTX-B40. Although the physical connector is the same, the internal wiring for Sony and Sennheiser compatible microphones is different.
Q: 2. I have to of these one has a little blue tag at the bottom just beside the mini jack, the other doesn't have a blue tag is there a difference? The one that doesnt have the blue tag is doing a very disturbing humming, can you tell me something about that?
A: Sennheiser changed the cabling last year. The new blue indicator is now wired RED center, BLUE ring and NO Shield. The shield wire is now wired to the BLUE side in the capsule. Do not wire the shield.
Q: 3. Will this work with the new Rode Wireless PRO TX?
A: Yes, the Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series Subminiature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking 3.5mm Connector is compatible for use with the transmitters included with the RODE Wireless PRO 2-Person Clip-On Wireless Microphone System.
Q: 4. Will it work with Rode Wireless ME/GO? Specifically, the voltage requirements and the 3.5mm locking connector compatibility.
A: The Sennheiser MKE1 Professional Lavalier Microphone requires 4.5 to 15V. We would not recommend using this microphone with the RODE Wireless ME or the Wireless GO and Wireless GO II Compact Digital Wireless Microphone Systems because the transmitters have non-locking inputs so the mic would not be securely connected and most high-end lavalier microphones do not function properly when used with either of these wireless systems. The Sennheiser MKE series mics work much better with wireless transmitters such as the Sennheiser SK 500 G4 and SK 100 G4. From our testing, the microphones that work best with the RODE ME, GO, and GO II Wireless Microphone Systems are the RODE Lavalier II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (B&H # ROLAVALIERII), the Saramonic DK3G Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (B&H # SADK3G), the Shure MOTIV MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (B&H # SHMVL35MM), and the Saramonic SR-M1 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (B&H # SASRM1).
Q: 5. Is the cable microphonic? I'm used to the DPA lavs where you can run your fingers up and down the cable and can't hear it. Does this mic exhibit the same quality?
A: This mic has a thin (1mm diameter) but robust Kevlar reinforced cable; flexible with minimum handling noise.
Q: 6. Any tips on storing the MKE1. Because the wire is so thin it can easily get tangled up while storing, even when you are careful. Anyone have best practices they can share for storing?
A: Some microphone manufacturers include a cable reel to help with storage, but nothing sold separately at this time. Once, I did see someone tackle this problem by using the reel from a roll of plumbing tape. It seemed to work surprisingly well.
Q: 7. What accessory do I need to mount under clothing or a shirt collar?
A: You can use the Bubblebee Industries Moleskin Invisible Lavalier Microphone Covers - 10 Black / 10 Beige / 10 White (B&H # BUBBIILCM30), or the LMC Sound CMTBK C Mount Universal Lavalier Mount (B&H # LMCMTBK), or the LMC Sound CMTVPRBK C Mount Vampire Clip Universal Lavalier Mount (B&H # LMCMTVPRBK) to mount the RODE Lavalier II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone under clothing or a shirt collar.
Q: 8. Is the mke2 compatible with sennheiser ew 100 g2 ?
A: Yes it is.
Q: 9. Can this be paired with a Tentacle Sync Track E?
A: Yes, the Sennheiser MKE 2 Gold Series Lavalier Microphone is compatible for use with the Tentacle Sync TRACK E Pocket Audio Recorder.
Q: 10. Will this work with Sony Wireless
A: No, the Rode Lavalier II Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone (Black) is not compatible with Sony Wireless Transmitters.
