A: Yes.

Q: 3. How’s the chromatic aberration on this lens when opened all the way up? I had the old EF 50mm 1.2 and got rid of it because it was so noticeable shooting anything below a 2.8. Mainly shooting video

A: From our findings, there is little to no chromatic aberration on this lens.

Q: 4. I am torn between the 85 and the DS. I am wanting to shoot Street photography with this lens, however I also need fast low light f1.2 for night Street. I do want bokeh and traditional bokeh from a 50 f1.2 is good enough. I'm leaning toward the standard 85 versus the DS as I don't want to lose a stop. Suggestions ?

A: Unless you want "Defocus Smoothing" at all times when shooting at f/1.2, I would say the normal Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM Lens will be more versatile than the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM DS Lens. But, it's a completely personal decision based on your own esthetics.

Q: 5. has anyone attempted to try this lens with a Sony A7III and an adapter?

A: We are not aware of an adapter that allows you to use a Canon RF lens on a Sony E-Mount camera.

Q: 6. Buying Cine Lenses for Canon. Does this lens have a long focus throw? Does this lens have smooth F/T Stop transition, instead of "click" stops? For smooth transition of focus and depth of field?

A: Sorry but this is not a cine lens. It is all electronic control with no scales. It would not work on a pro set for the assistant would have no way of controlling the focus or stop. If you want a Canon cine lens here is the link. https://bhpho.to/2A5NLe5

Q: 7. Does purchase include hood & bag? No Canon hood or bag listed in accessories.

A: As indicated under the “In The Box” section under the Overview tab on our website, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens, B&H # CA5012LRF, would include the Canon ES-83 Lens Hood and the Canon Lens Case LP1319. The following items are listed as included with the lens purchase: In the Box Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens E-77 II 77mm Lens Cap Lens Dust Cap RF ES-83 Lens Hood Lens Case LP1319 Limited 1-Year Warranty

Q: 8. How will this lens perform with video on an R6?

A: This 50mm lens will work great on the R6 for video.

Q: 9. What is the best lens filter for RF 50mm 1.2?

A: Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM Lens is one of Canon superiors lenses. Canon makes their own UV protecting filters which match well with their L-series lenses optical quality. I will also recommend B+W MRC Nano and Hoya HD glass filters if you are interested on weather seal UV protecting filters.

Q: 10. Is there an adapter for EF bodies or is it impossible because of the flange distance?

A: No adapter for RF to EF, only EF to RF

The best way to describe this lens is quality at it's best it was the last lens I purchased in a line of lenses but it should have been the first. The price was what was holding me back, but now I understand, the performance of this lens is superb and in retrospect should have been an initial purchase, if you are hesitant, don't be, you will NOT regret it, this lens will quickly pay itself off. I understand each person's situation might be different but these are my pros and cons: -Pros the 1.2 makes a huge difference in low light situations, I'm a hybrid shooter (Video/Photography) and this works beautifully in both worlds. The images are crisp with cinematic depth of field in both Photo and video, it produces wonderful Bokeh. if you're a portrait photographer or shoot products, this lens is a definite must have more so for portraits for the reasons I mentioned above. Cons: they're few so far, The lens itself is heavier than expected which might be an issue if you're shooting hand held for extended periods. and of course the price for me was high, but as I mentioned before, the quality of the images in the end will supersede the initial investment by a long shot. so int the end absolutely worth it.

It's true, that gear does not make you a better creator. BUT... this lens will upgrade your product, no doubt. I shoot Product Marketing Videos, High-End Airbnb Properties, Music Videos ETC. and I use this for everything, as often as it makes sense. It's just smooth and beautiful. If you've used the 50mm 1.4, this is a massive upgrade, and a great deal sharper.

I have a few lenses in my kit bag to choose from but this one never fails. Solid performer time and time again with portraits, modeling, sports our product photography. A must have for the Pro shooter.

I love this lens so far. High quality for sure and beautiful. Somewhat sad about the size and weight given that one advantage of the mirrorless stuff could be lessening those things. But I'll take it because the lens seems pretty perfect otherwise.

I had the Sigma 50mm EF lens so the first RF lens I purchased was the 28-70 2.0 RF zoom. That zoom was so good I didn't feel I needed the RF 50mm. The second lens I purchased was the 85mm 1.2 RF which is a beast of a lens. There were a few purchases along the way and I finally decided to go ahead and get the 50mm 1.2 RF. WOW, this is the one that says on my camera unless I need one of the other specialties. It's funny how some think it's a large lens but isn't for me as I lived with the two other beasts and this is a light weight. Quality image and fast focus.

Super fast focusing, incredibly sharp even at f1.2.
At first I thought it was kind of heavy but it seems about the same as the rf 24-70, 24-105 and 70-200 4.0. It feels nice and balanced on the R5/6.

Yes, it’s pricy. Yes, it’s heavier than a typical Nifty Fifty. But, wow - this lens is razor sharp and the background blurs like butter. I love it. The lens makes me want to shoot more. Great colors too. Love the lens.
