Great lens

So far I am impressed with the RF system and cant wait for this to blossom into what its capable of being. That being said I love this lens. It feels really balanced on the EOS R although some have complained on those silly youtube channels that its heavy; DUH, it is. Anything of quality is. Bokeh is buttery soft which is what youre obviously looking for and image quality is superb. Im not a specs person and base my thoughts on feel and image quality.

Fantastic lens. I have 7 cannon L’s and this lens is a stunner for focus accuracy and image quality. Fun stuff!

The EF version was great. The RF version surpasses the EF in every way!! I sold my EF due to slow focus. This is one of the quickest focusing lenses I own!!

This lens truly is fantastic.  Im attaching a couple of un-cropped images shot a f/1.2 (one inside really closeup, one outside for more of a 3/4 portrait with rider and horse).  I couldnt see any vignetting or distortion in either one.  It also performs superbly at apertures throughout - Ive been pleased with images shot from f/2.8 through f/16.
Im one of those who feel that 35mm is closer to what I see than 50mm - and I love the RF35 for its light-weight, unobtrusive characteristics.   But this 50mm gem is just a great lens for someone who wants a walk around focal length that can also hold its own when it comes to portraiture.
It is fast to focus, quiet, renders beautiful color, saturation, detail and bokeh.  Yes, it is somewhat heavy, but it didnt bother me to carry it during a four hour event (part of which was shared with its 24-105mm sibling).  For the image quality that this glass delivers, the weight is appropriate and the balance on the EOS-R is a pleasure.

This lens is the best lens I have ever had. Sharp and crisp wide open edge to edge. Note - I do use the Canon Digital Lens Optimizer software in-camera. Versatile 50mm focal length with 1.2 aperture. With a wide open aperture I can isolate a depth of field of 3.5 feet at a focus point 20 feet away, this is very helpful in event photography (I shoot a FF R6M2). Drawbacks are price and weight. Since I shoot 50mm by default I plan to leave it on my camera as often as possible.

This is by far the best lens I've ever owned! Very sharp, versatile and handles backlit sun image extremely well! I would never regret this purchase!

I had previously owned a Canon 50mm 1.2 and didn't like the lens at all. I never used it. I read so many great things about the RF 50mm 1.2 and was skeptical...until I put the lens on my camera. WOW!!!

I sprung for this lens, as I know I Primarily shoot this focal length for most of my work. Optically its amazing and I can get great sharp shots at f1.2 all the time. On the RP its a little big for a 50mm, but I did feel the need to complain like many other reviewers, the extra grip definitely helped though. Im also coming from shooting a 6d, so the transition from an older body with the EF 50mm 1.4, is a huge difference. I will say, that sharpness at this wider aperture has created more opportunities for my creativity. The EF1.4, while tack sharp at 2.8, is a bit soft wide open, and this one is on point

Big and heavy yes, but big and heavy on performance. Excellent color and resolution. Amazing detail low light capabilities are outstanding.  Expensive yes,you get performance for your money. Fantastic!
