I have had the Yongnuo YN 50mm f/1.8 Lens out on over 20 different photo shoots and it has exceeded my expectations. One might be tempted to think that this lens is priced to low to be of any value but you would be wrong.


Build Quality:


The weight of this lens is enough in the hand that it does not feel cheap. It is however, not so heavy that you do not want to use it.


The print on the lens is nicely done. You will not have an issue reading it in most all conditions.


The focus ring has a very positive feel to it. It is not so tight that you cannot make on the fly corrections, but it is tight enough that you do not need to worry about losing your focus randomly.


The glass that is used in this lens is clear and provided crisp and clean images.


This lens is made mostly of polymer products but the did not skimp where it counts. The locking ring for the lens (mating surface to the camera) is made out of metal. When the lens is installed onto the body it there is zero play in the locking system and it locks very smooth.


Photo Quality:


This is a bit subjective since settings within the camera will dictate the overall image quality. So with the understanding that the operator has done His/Her job correctly, you will not be disappointed by this lens.


The images are sharp and clean.


The depth of field is fantastic allowing for those gorgeous portrait shots that leave that background buttery smooth while moving your subject to the main focus of the shot.


The auto focus works as it should without being overly loud or distracting.


If you are looking for a entry level lens for portraits and other applications, this would be a fantastic choice. If you are a seasoned photographer, this lens is for you as well. It will deliver the performance that you want at a price point that will not have you upset if a accident happens.

This is a great lens. The price is not even half of canon one. But it works perfectly on my canon camera. Great lens with awesome price!

Recently started portrait photography with my Canon rebel and was suggested this lense as a less expensive alternative and it meets every expectation my $125 : 50mm would. Great product, great buy, great depth!

Currently my go-to lens for concert photography. Absolutely love this product and look forward to purchasing more from this brand. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a good quality lens, but on a budget. Especially great for low-light photography. You won't find a better price for this quality.

I bought this with the expectation of it works cool it doesn’t all well but man this lens has officially wowed me. Definitely claims the title of “Nifty 50” excellent lens for a good price.

We bought this from B&H recently. It came packaged safely. It was in perfect condition. It performs perfectly and is compatible with our Canon SL2 camera. The autofocus motor works. No scratches. Great price.

This was the first prime lens I bought. Kit lens's were really letting me down. I'm using it on a Nikon D5600 crop sensor camera. Some reviews complain about the focus noise. It's not that bad. If you ever owned a Canon power shot you know what true noise is all about. This is very quiet compared to the power shot series. Build quality seems to be very good. Metal mount and barrel. If the internals are plastic that's good. Plastics are far more thermodynamically stable. Lens coating could be a touch better but then the price would increase substantially. F1.8 is sharp, blending off to soft out of focus backgrounds. This is my go to lens for just about everything. Bang for the buck, you just can't beat it. The lens handles low light in an excellent fashion. I like this lens so much I had to order the Yongnuo 50mm F1.4 and the Yongnuo 85 F1.8. The prices are so reasonable. B&H service is great so it's a winning combination.

Just a beginner level photographer with a d3400(which I got from b&h) who decided to venture on a cheaper lens. I got this lens a day ago and I was astounded by the bokeh that was achieved. I don’t know how this holds up to a Nikon 1.8G 50 mm but there are lot of videos showing the difference but I am content with the outcome.

Yes , as others have mentioned this lens is a bit slow to search for the subject as compared to the kit lens. You might not like the slowness if this lens is used to take a video, otherwise it’s good for taking picture.
I have used it for almost 700 clicks and so for no issues. The pictures are softer as compared to the kit lens.

Very affordable lens that is a great deal in great value for the money. Is especially useful 4 pictures add to blur the background. Also makes you work as it is a prime lens with no Zoom. Very happy with the product and the support I received
