Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this item rated for outdoor use?

A: No, this is for indoor use. If you woudl like to use this for outdoor use, you will need to purchase some sort of enclosure for it.

Q: 2. Are all 8 ports POE. Is it active or passive POE.

A: This Ubiquiti Networks UISP-R 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Router has 8 passive PoE ports.

Q: 3. Does it have RADIUS auth option?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks ES-5XP EdgeSwitch XP 5-Port Advanced Gigabit PoE Managed Switch, B&H # UBES5XP, supports RADIUS authentication.

Q: 4. I have a small Ubiquiti network managed under a CloudKey. Is this router compatible and can it be configured by the cloudkey?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UISP-R 8-Port Gigabit PoE Compliant Router is not compatible with Cloud Key.

Q: 5. Can the port LEDs be turned off to save of the cost of useless light solution?

A: Yes, the port lights for the Ubiquiti Networks Pro Max 16-Port 2.5G / 1G Managed Network Switch can be customized or disabled.

Q: 6. Is this the right POE adapter for the Reolink RLC-410?

A: Robert is correct. No, this will not work. This is a 24VDC passive POE adapter. Reolink cameras require a IEEE 802.3af or IEEE 802.3at (48VDC) active POE injector. Consider this one: TP-Link TL-POE150S Power Over Ethernet Injector B&H # TPTLPOE150S: https://bhpho.to/3qW24K1 IEEE 802.3, 3u, 3af Compliant 1 x 10/100/1000M LAN Port 1 x Power Socket (DC IN) 1 x 10/100/1000M PoE Port Power LED Indicator

Q: 7. does this switch provide the power over Ethernet to your devices or does it just let it voltage pass through?

A: The switch gives you actual POE on any of the ports. You must enable the POE for the individual ports in the configuration. For instance, I use one port to connect/power a Ubiquiti NanobeamAC and another to connect/power a Ubiquiti Nanostation LOCO M5 (as AP) and the other ports I have disabled POE as they have not POE devices connect. A cool feature is besides the LAN activity led on each port there is a POE indicator LED. Hope that helps.

Q: 8. Do I need a router with this product?

A: Yes. Get the Ubiquiti Edge-X. Works great with this switch.

Q: 9. What AC power plug type does this have? Uk?

A: USA/North America.

Q: 10. Pardon my ignorance but I'm not an IT guy. I am purchasing three Sony PTZ cameras that will power with POE. Normally you would look all three via cat 5 but there are many times when the distance of all three combined would be over 100m which is the typical max length of POE from what I gather. If I take the control cable from the PTZ cameras into this box, cam I simultaneously feed 3 cat 5 POE to each camera 100M each? Or is this strictly a switched output rather than using it as a splitter.

A: I would recommend using a Ubiquiti Networks 50V PoE Adapter with Gigabit LAN Port at each desired end location. Injecting power at the site of the PTZ camera at a closer point dropping the distance limitations.
