Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this an updated version of BH #MA492LCD or is it different?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 492 LCD Micro Ball Head with Cold Shoe is very similar but it includes a cold shoe at the bottom to mount directly to camera shoes.

Q: 2. Will this work with a dslr camera?

A: Yes this head can accommodate a DSLR camera.

Q: 3. Does this also pan when you loosen the lever?

A: The Ulanzi U-80L Side Cold Shoe Mount Ball Head with Arca-Type Quick Release uses the same lever for tilting and panning.

Q: 4. How do I remove the hot shoe adapter to use the ball head with a tripod?

A: Unfortunately, you will not be able to remove the cold shoe from this unit. You can attach a cold shoe mount with a 1/4"-20 thread. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=cold%20shoe%20mount%20with%201%2F4%22%20&filters=fct_bottom-mounting_3264%3A1-4in-20-female%2Cfct_top-mounting_3263%3Aaccessory-shoe

Q: 5. Is it compatible with the Sony A7III?

A: Yes it is. It has a shoe mount to attach to the top of the A7III. It also has an 8.8 pound load capacity so it could mount an A7III on top of it as well.

Q: 6. How close to 1-11/16" would this be in diameter when closed? Also, my tube is 5-3/8" in circumference, if that helps. FYI: It's the SUTEFOTO TP25-RGB.

A: This is a T12 clip. T12 is a 1.5" diameter.

Q: 7. Can you take the clamp off the ball head?

A: According to the manufacturer, the quick release clamp used on the Ulanzi U-80L Side Cold Shoe Mount Ball head is built onto the ball head and is not removable/replaceable.

Q: 8. So, is there a weight limit here? I need to mount a magmod magring with magbox and 2x Godox AD200’s to my Manfrotto ball head, and this seems like the perfect adapter to do it. So will it hold that setup?

A: While the manufacturer does not explicitly provide this spec, users have reportedly used this product to support up to 2 lb.

Q: 9. What is the ball diameter?

A: Unfortunately, the ball sphere diameter is not published by the manufacturer.

Q: 10. Does it work with Mamiya RB67?

A: The Ulanzi U-80L Side Cold Shoe Mount Ball Head with Arca-Type Quick Release supports up to 22 lbs and techncalyy can work with the RB67. But for the RB 67 and its size it is better to use a stronger tripod head. Like one of these, https://bhpho.to/3KmLeQR .
