The A231 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone from Audix is an ultralow-noise condenser mic designed for demanding studio use. Designed with a larger-than-average effective diaphragm, a highly directional cardioid pickup pattern, and a rugged, machined aluminum housing, the A231 is a versatile studio mic that handle voices and instruments with ease, imparting natural warmth with impressive detail.

The A231 sports convenient integrated hardware to make recording easier than ever, with an integrated vibration-reducing shockmount that eliminates the need for bulky external shockmounts, and a built-in acoustic foam filter and steel alloy grille for avoiding plosives and sibilance. The extremely low-noise preamp circuitry produces clean signals, and an active driven shielding helps to protect the preamp-to-capsule connection from obtrusions like capacitive coupling. The microphone includes a zippered carrying case for safe transport to and from recording locations, and the included snap-on mic clip makes the A231 easy to mount on any 5/8" or 3/8" stand or boom.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this mic on live stage or only in studio ? Anyway I can cut feed back for this mic on live stage like speaker's position suggestion. Thank you

A: Though not designed for stage use, you could give it a try as it will only connect to an iOS device or a computer.

Q: 2. Can this mic be used with a dslr camera?

A: No its only design for pc/mac ios

Q: 3. Does the MV51 have any kind of noise cancelling features? How does it compare to other mics, in this regard...such as the iRIG MIC Studio, or the Blue Spark Digital?

A: The Shure Motiv MV51 does not have noise canceling but it does have 5 DSP presets. It is cross platform with USB and lightning connectors. The build quality is very good. As far as comparing it to the iRig and the Blue Spark is not something that I would do. They all have their pros and cons. The only thing that matters is do you like the sound of the mic. Which as with all mics is a matter of personal preference.

Q: 4. i have an mv51 for i phone can i get cable to use on android?

A: The MV51 would connect to Android devices using the supplied USB cable and a MicroUSB to USB Female adapter.

Q: 5. Would this mic work ok for streaming? I'd like to not have the mic on screen and be able to move my head a little. Also would it pick up a lot of the speaker audio? I don't want to use headphones if I can get away with it.

A: I can't imagine a problem with streaming. As for picking up your monitor audio, that's a bit tricky to answer without seeing your recording space. I'm guessing that some noise reduction to reduce your monitor audio bouncing back and having the monitors behind the mic should result in a clean sound without picking up the monitors... but this would be true for any mic that's not omnidirectional. We use this mic at about 3 feet from two people talking and it's awesome... we don't use the monitor. If money's not a limiting factor, this mic also has different heads that support different patterns..

Q: 6. What transmitters and receivers can this plug into? Are there any adapters to turn it to XLR?

A: It will only work with Sony transmitters that have a compatible 4-Pin (SMC9-4P) Connector. You can use the Sony DC78 battery power supply to use it with XLR inputs.

Q: 7. its phantom power required? I would like to put ii on top my DSLR to get interior speeches or dialogs.

A: It needs a XLR connection (cable). I use it with a Zoom H6 and synchronize in post.

Q: 8. How would I connect this to a mic stand? Is there a way to do so that would not involve screwing it on (to release it more quickly)?

A: You could try using a mic quick release adaptor. It's a device you would mount to the stand and screw the MV51 into that would allow for you to separate the two with a quick intentional motion (varies by model). Shure does not make one, however there are various models available from other manufacturers, such as the GFW-MIC-QRTOP from Gator Frameworks.

Q: 9. How is this model different than the other seemingly identical B&H item here? a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115605-REG/shure_mv51_digital_large_diaphragm_condenser_mic.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115605-REG/shure_mv51_digital_large_diaphragm_condenser_mic.html/a

A: There's just a slight difference in the packaging. hardware, accessories, operation and specs are identical.

Q: 10. Will this fit the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone?

A: No, the Auray BSM-35R Suspension Shockmount for Broadcast, Podcast & Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphones will not accommodate the 2.5" diameter of the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone. The BSM-35R works best with microphone diameters of up to 2.1 inches that feature M20 or M22 threads. The SM7B also integrates a shock mount into its build that is sufficient for most scenarios and mounting directly to arms and stands.
