Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this compare to be RRS pano kits? Will it work well with RRS L-plates and lens plates?

A: The Fanotec Nodal Ninja M2 Ultimte Panoramic Head with RD8-II rotator is a great multi-row panoramic head! From our testing, the arca-swiss clamps on Nodal Ninja products has never had any issue with RRS, Kirk, or other arca-swiss products.

Q: 2. I am thinking of getting a Nodal Ninja panoramic head hit for a Nikon D800E and a Nikon 70-200 VRII. Is this the kit to get?

A: I feel the Nodal Ninja Ultimate M1-L With RD16 II Rotator Panoramic Head B&H # NOM1LRD16II MFR # F8102, would be a better choice. It can support more weight than the other one. And the D800E with the 70-200 lens is pretty heavy.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this and the M2 Giga? Is it just weight capacity?

A: M2 Giga is designed and made for Gigapixel Photography offering precise positive hard stops.

Q: 4. How does the head mount to this there is no screw shown?

A: This rotator will adapt to other ball heads but is specially designed for the Nodal Ninja Ultimate M2 Panoramic Head https://bhpho.to/3Cfxodv you can also use a Impact 3/8" to 3/8" Adapter Spigot https://bhpho.to/3ilQh6r

Q: 5. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mk III and a 70-200 lens. Will this product handle the weight?

A: The Nodal Ninja handles a lens weight of 6.6lbs and the Canon 70-200 weighs 3.3lbs.

Q: 6. Does this have to be attached directly to the tripod, or can it be installed on a RRS-BH-55 ball head? I used to have a similar setup with RRS that attached the levelling base to the ball head, and than the vertical/horizontal rails would be attached using the levelling base. This made it easier to switch between pano and regular photography? Does the RD8 II serve thr same function as the RRS levelling base did, and can it be attached to the RRS ball head (ball head is arca-Swiss type)?

A: The Nodal Ninja Ultimate M2 Panoramic Head With RD8-II Rotator does not come with a leveling base. It is recommended to use that with a leveling base only. A ball head will make it hard to level it.

Q: 7. Can I use a Fisheye with this head? What other items do I need to get to use it. I will be purchasing the Canon EF 8-15 f/4l Fisheye and want to get the correct pan head. Thanks.

A: Hi! I have same question. Did you use Canon 8-15 mm with this head? How did it work? Thank you

Q: 8. do you need Nadir Adapter and what is difference between 279.95 lower rotate d10 package and the one one with the adapter?

A: No, you do not need the Nadir Adapter. But the adapter which does come with the other D10 kit, https://bhpho.to/377PbX0 Is an acra-swiss style mounting bracket. It attaches to the vertical rail and clamps to lower rail of NN3 MK3 and NN6 allowing for 180° rotation of upper assembly.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with a Nikon D750?

A: This has a load capacity of 7.7lb. This will be able to hold the D750 with lighter lenses less than 50mm.

Q: 10. Will the Canon r5 fit this or is it better to get NN6?

A: While the Nodal Ninja 6 with Nadir Adapter would be a great option with more flexibility and would give you the ability to use a larger range of lenses, yes, the Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Digital Camera and a lens up to 200mm would be compatible for use with the Nodal Ninja NN3 MK3 with Lower Rotator D10 Package.

Bought this to do 360 Real Estate tours with my Sony A7. Works great and minimal stitching errors. Solid build and great product.

All of Fanotec's stuff is top notch. I do wish it had some bigger stops too like the RD-16 since I don't always do stitches with super long lenses. The RD-16 works for everything up to 200mm lens in vertical orientation. Got this for my 100-400 lens and it really is most convenient for that lens only. With shorter lenses you'd have to keep track of rotating multiple times to get a bigger increment, like 10 or 12 degrees. Not the end of the world but it's one more thing to keep track of.

Precise, intelligently designed tool for photographers who need and appreciate expert level craftsmanship and consistent positioning. Keep in mind this is not as light as some landscape photographers might like. Also it's not small, although it can be partly disassembled. Where accuracy is the main focus. It's highly recommended.

Solidly made device. Works perfectly. Would prefer to have some instructions/documentation with both the NN3 and the D10 rather than having to search them out online.otherwise very satisfied.

I actually have two of these now. I was using the NN RD-16, which was nice, but big and heavy. This model does everything I need at about 1/2 the weight and size. Typical Nodal Ninja quality, very strong and operates smoothly. I have two pano heads, one for my larger tripod and the other for my lightweight hiking setup. I use one of these on each .

Great for interior panos, the blue knob does not lock the horizontal arm completely but this does not effect the performance.

I've tried other rotators before. This one is the best and meets my requirements. The detents lock in nicely with no slop providing accurate consistent overlaps. The Allen key hidden in the lock knob provides for tensioning adjustments by screwing the Allen screw in or out inside the detent knobs. There's a handy thread inside the lock knob to store any unused detent knob so it's not dangling around. The adjustable degree wheel is great for setting zero to begin your pan along with the adjustable ring to set the stop point. Great for wide multi shot pano's. Well constructed and smooth movements. Pricy but we'll worth it and a time saver.
