The black, redesigned MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto builds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO4's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.2" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.

One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.

The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.

The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.

Each leg has user selection of four angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.

The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. which sturdy ,aluminum manfrotto tripod and a good quality head, would you use on a pentax 80ed spotting scope that will be used on full magnification thank you

A: For a sturdy, aluminum Manfrotto tripod with a head included, check out the 190XPROB tripod with MVH500AH fluid head: http://bhpho.to/1g9VOUs

Q: 2. Could you attach a Edelkrone slider to this while shooting a 90degree shot? Or a slider of similar proportions/weight?

A: With the right ball head, you can attach any mid-size slider to this tripod and shoot vertically. The tripod can handle over 15 pounds of weight. However, it's always recommended to add some weight to the tripod so that it doesn't tip over, and unfortunately this tripod does not have a hook under the middle column to connect a sandbag or camera bag. But if you can be creative and figure out a way to add more weight to the tripod, that would be the best way to go about it.

Q: 3. What would be the best head to use on this tripod for purposes of taking overhead food shots with my Canon 5D Mark III? Thanks in advance. :-)

A: I currently use a Slik pistol grip with good ergonomics and safety.

Q: 4. Do I have to purchase a quick detach for my camera or does this head come with one

A: It comes with the plate, 200PL-14

Q: 5. Are the rubber feet on this tripod replaceable with other feet? For example - Spikes?

A: No, the Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 does not take spiked feet.

Q: 6. Do the older heads for a 190xPROB fit on this new tripod. I have an 804RC2 head for example and it looks like the uniting plate is different ?

A: The tripod has a standard 3/8 -16 head mount screw. Any head using 3/8 -16 will mount.

Q: 7. What is the difference in leg diameters of the 190 and the 055?

A: This tripod has 3 segment legs. The 1st segment on top has a 22mm, the middle segment has 18mm and the lower segment is 13mm diameter.

Q: 8. Does this tripod setup come with a carrying case?

A: A tripod case is not included.

Q: 9. Can I attach MSTRAP or Optech strap with swiel hook to the rectangle loop on tripod near where you mount ball head, to carry the tripod. Asking this question because the loop looks like Madrid plastic and can break ?

A: The loop you see is specifically made for attaching carrying straps. It will not break under normal circumstances.

Q: 10. what is the difference between this and Manfrotto MT055XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head? (other than there load capacity?)

A: Hi--the load capacity, the maximum height, the minimum height, the weight, and the folded length are different for the two tripods you are asking about.

This is the 2nd travel-type tripod I've bought in the last 6 months. The first one broke the 2nd time I used it (the bottom extension on the mono-pod leg twisted apart when tightening it after use). When I pull this out of the box I immediately noticed how much sturdier it was than the previous. The quick release levers for the extensions are so much easier and quicker to use than the twist type, and the rotating head mount is easy, efficient, and such a great option to have on a tripod used on location and small studio set ups. I did my research - this was top rated for its quality and price, and while I haven't bought other, more expensive tripods, spending a little more on this one was worth it!

I purchased this Tripod, first & foremost, for its horizontal column feature but also its higher weight capacity than my 6.5 Lb. capacity Tripod.
When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised by its build quality, weight & solidity. Truly a Heavy-Duty & versatile Tripod for PROFESSIONAL Photography! I most highly recommend this Tripod for Professionals & everyone who needs extreme quality.

I haven't been able to use my new Manfrotto MT190XPRO4 aluminum tripod very much so far as I do a lot of handheld work. But, it's well constructed, easy to use, got all the bells and whistles I want and is certainly a step up from my Slik AMT 330Pro DX. A professional wedding photographer friend recommended Manfrotto and I can understand why he said to go this way.
