The black, redesigned MT190XPRO4 Aluminum Tripod from Manfrotto builds on the success and popularity of the previous 190 series with professional hardware and convenience features that make it even easier to use than its predecessor.

Set up is faster than ever with Manfrotto's Quick Power Lock System that allows you to completely extend the tripod legs with just one hand. Once set up you can use the MT190XPRO4's rapid center column in standard vertical mode or swing it into horizontal position like a boom with Manfrotto's 90° Column feature. Enlarged tabs on the individual leg angle selectors allow you to get down to only 3.2" for macro work with the column in horizontal mode. And once you're down there you can attach any of Manfrotto's flexible or articulated arms to hold lights or reflectors via the Easy Link plug built into the tripod's spider.

Convenience features include grippy, rubber leg warmers on two legs for cold or inclement weather and a bubble level that rotates so that you can see it easily regardless of the tripod's position. Finally, Manfrotto's insistence on form following function has yielded a tripod that you'll not only be happy to use but you'll be happy to be seen with, too.

The Quick Power Lock (QPL) system is one of the most eye-catching and unique features of the redesigned 190. It is a strong, ultra fast, ergonomic locking system that allows for complete extension of the legs with one hand.

One of the most innovative aspects of the 190 series is its compactness, which allows for easier portability. The redesigned patented 90° Column is accessible whenever you need it with simple one finger operation.

The plug allows instant connection between tripod and accessories, such as LED lights for macro photography and DSLR video applications using Manfrotto articulated arms and brackets.

The bubble is easy to read, whatever the shape of the head or however the tripod is positioned. Just rotate it towards you for easy viewing.

Each leg has user selection of four angles to accommodate uneven ground or rough terrain. The selectors are manufactured according to most innovative ergonomic standards to prevent fingers and nails being trapped in the upper casting.

The entire shape of the tripod has been modified and made more manageable and stylish. The complete redesign of its functional elements shows a particular attention to aesthetics and details: the brand name, for example, appears in many sections of the new 190, including the two legwarmers made of comfortable rubber to provide a secure grip and prevent the conduction of heat and cold in extreme weather conditions.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I use my Canon 80D for videos once in a while. Will this work as a video pan?

A: No, this would not be good for video. You are much better off getting a video head or you can get a hybrid head for both. Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/760106-REG/Manfrotto_MH055M8_Q5_MH055M8_Q5_Photo_Movie_Tripod_Head.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 2. I screwed the head on my tripod..how do I prevent it from unscrewing or swiveling at the base and becoming unscrewed over use?

A: There has been nothing implemented to prevent the following head from un screwing off the center column but applying enough tension when mounting the system.

Q: 3. What is the maximum height with and without the centre column extended?

A: For the Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod the Max Height without Center Column is 53.2 inches / 135.1 cm.

Q: 4. What are the dimensions of the tripod carry-bag for this tripod?

A: I have this tripod and i use the carry-bag Manfrotto MBAG70N which is just perfect for it. Hope this will help

Q: 5. I'll be using the head to mount binoculars for astronomy. Is it possible to point the head vertically, so that I can look directly upwards?

A: I don't think you can. I do not like this design. I liked the old style of pistol grip. With this style you have to use your right hand to move the grip, which is the same hand you use to trip the shutter button. The old style of pistol grip, you could use with either hand. There is no way to flip the grip on the horizontal style.

Q: 6. Would this work well as a support for my Ikan 31 camera slider?

A: I also have a 24'' slider with this tripod- but I would be careful using a slider with more length.. depending on what kind of rig you have up top, there could be enough weight to create some wobble- I would recommend using 2 tripods.

Q: 7. What is the main difference between this and the Manfrotto 327RC2 Ball Head? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/680140-REG/Manfrotto_327RC2_327RC2_Joystick_Head.html/qa

A: The 322RC2 is an older model with friction control for the ball sphere. The 327RC2 is newer and lacks the friction control.

Q: 8. What is the difference in leg diameters of the 055 and the 190?

A: Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 has 3 leg section. The top section has a 25mm diameter, the middle section is 20mm and the lower section is 16mm.

Q: 9. I have a Vanguard Auctus Plus 283CT tripod, will the Pistol grip work?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 322RC2 Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate and 322RA Quick Release Adapter (B&H# MA322RC2) will attach to the Vanguard Auctus Plus 283CT Carbon Fiber Tripod (B&H# VAAP283CT).

Q: 10. How would I use the tripod in very low position without having center pole in 90 degree position? Can I take the center pole out and attach the ball head somehow? I want camera in normal position on tripod (not at 90 degrees) but have the tripod very low. Thanks.

A: Unfortunately, the Manfrotto XPRO series of tripods (such as this 190XPRO3) can only achieve its lowest positions by laterally extending the center column. Other versions of Manfrotto tripods offer a low-height center column mounting piece, but the unique design of the XPRO tripods does not.

this product was highly recommended as a beginner on a budget item and I could not be happier with it. The instructions were easy to follow for installation on a tripod as well as taking your camera on and off. I would recommend it to anyone.

I have tried many ball heads, I have the area swiss and many others and they are all good and strong but they require the use of many knobs to get the camera to where you want them. The Grip action ballhead by Manfrotto is super strong and super quick. A squeeze of the trigger and the guess work is gone, no knobs to turn or tighten. This is truly one amazing ballhead. I have done 30 sec exposures out in the elements with wind and the camera was rock solid, I have also had the camera on a vertical for 30 sec and it is truly amazing. Off course the right tripod is required but the head definitely does the job. I highly recommend this ball for all levels of photography.

I produce video and photography and this tripod works well for either. Great construction and easy to adjust legs are great for me as everything I do has to be quick and lightweight.

I bought the product mainly because a few of our photo friends loved it. It is easy and great for changing the direction and angle. It is also steady. The grip comes with it on the right hand side of the ballhead. I have moved it to the left hand side so that I can maneuver the direction and angle with the left hand and shoot with the right hand.

I've had this tripod head for about fifteen years now and I love it. I bought it with my first set of Manfrotto tripod legs in the 190 series, which are still going strong and look nearly new despite year of use, much of it around salt water and mud. Quite a step up from the consumer aluminum tripod I'd been given as a graduation gift - the pan/tilt head came off in my hands, camera fortunately still attached, on one of my first jobs. That's when I learned that it's not just weight but also quality that matters. The Manfrotto was worth every penny.
Since then, I've also bought a lighter and less expensive Manfrotto ball head for travel & hiking, since this head is large and much heavier, but this one is still my favorite.
When I'm hiking or traveling with a fair amount of gear, I try to keep the weight down and so use the ball head instead, but if I'm just taking along one camera and lens, this head is so much more fluid to use (and much easier when the arthritis in my hands acts up).
It's my go-to when shooting indoors or out in my yard where the extra weight is not an issue. It's also my first choice for short walks, especially if I'm chasing butterflies, since it lets me follow them easily with the camera supported, rather than needing to shoot handheld, which is often the case when I've got the regular ball head instead, since I find that much more limiting.
The downside is that it's no good for panning evenly, but for all other applications, it makes using a tripod much more flexible than other heads I've used - I find it much more fluid and intuitive, for example, than a pan/tilt.
There is no one head that is perfect for all applications, but this is my favorite.

This is a great tripod for portraits and landscapes! Moving and adjusting the camera has never been easier. You simply squeeze the trigger and aim! Please note that this tripod head is not good for macro photography. Get a geared head if you want micro adjustment for macro photography. When you release the trigger on the 322RC2, the head jerks a little when it tries to grip onto the head, so it doesn't point exactly where you want it to point. The handle is also on the right. This means you cant shoot pictures while you're adjusting the head. Just some things to think about before you purchase. I still love this head.
