Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there room in this bag for the MX-LMount Battery Sled and a few L-series batteries attached?

A: Yes there is room for the battery sled and batteries to fit inside.

Q: 2. Can you use some hip belt rather than this neck strap for carrying this case? I think that way it could stand by itself close to body in movement, just like hip pack. If its only with neck strap connected to body than in movement if you don't hold it case can bump around, no?

A: A Porta Brace AH-2L Padded Audio Harness with Belt would be a suitable solution as it will keep your bag in place, even while on-the-run.

Q: 3. What does it mean when all of the channel LED rings are flashing yellow, and it won't allow me to record?

A: Regarding the Sound Devices 833 8-Channel / 12-Track Multitrack Field Recorder, when all of the channel LED rings are flashing yellow and won't allow you to record, that means your sync reference is set to "external", but there is no external source. You would just need to set your sync reference to "internal".

Q: 4. Is there a d tap to usb c cable that can lower the output to 5v to power the F3?

A: Yes, there are cables such as BH #INGP5DT3 IndiPRO Tools D-Tap to Regulated Right-Angle USB Type-C Cable, which could serve the purpose of powering the Zoom F3 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Field Recorder via D-Tap to USB-C with 5V attenuation: https://bhpho.to/37VT8jZ

Q: 5. Does the MixPre-3 fit in this bag?

A: Yes, the Sound Devices MixPre-3 will fit in the PortaBrace AR-MIXPRE6 Field Audio Bag for MixPre-6 Recorder. The MixPre-6 is slightly larger than the MixPre-3. The dimensions of the MixPre-6 are 6.5 x 1.4 x 4.6" and the dimensions for the MixPre-3 are 5.7 x 1.4 x 4.3". So the bag is going to be a bit larger than required. As another options, you may prefer the PortaBrace Field Audio Bag for MixPre-3 Recorder (B&H # POARMIXPRE3) which is the same bag, but designed for the MixPre-3.

Q: 6. what does 32-Bit (A/D Conversion) mean on the spec list, does it mean If I want to record 32-bit, I will need to connect it to computer?

A: The 32-bit specification refers to the amount of audio information the Sound Devices 833 8-Channel / 12-Track Multitrack Field Recorder is capable of capturing while recording in reference to bit depth. 32-bit recording captures more information mainly due to its floating-point format versus traditional fixed-point bit depths of 16 and 24 bit. This, in essence, allows for a much wider dynamic range to be captured and makes it hard to record clipped or distorted signals. Sound Devices publishes a useful article on their site that explains this in depth and can be found here: https://bit.ly/3SGcsE5

Q: 7. Is there a plug in to record MP3 for transcription

A: No, there is no plug-in to record MP3 on the Sound Devices 833 Field Recorder. The 833 records audio in WAV format.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with SL-6?

A: No, the Sound Devices 833 8-Channel / 12-Track Multitrack Field Recorder is not compatible with the Sound Devices SL-6. The 833 is, however, compatible with the Sound Devices SL-2 Dual SuperSlot Wireless Module for 8-Series Mixer/Recorder (BH #SOSL2): https://bhpho.to/3bggoeh

Q: 9. if I want to use a Shure SM7B with this recorder, do I need to use a cloud lifter with it?

A: The microphone inputs on the Sound Devices 833 Multitrack Field Recorder provide up to +76 dB of gain which is sufficient for use with the Shure SM7b Vocal Microphone, so a Cloud Lifter is not needed.

Q: 10. Will this support a large Sony L battery sled in the bottom panel. And is there access to the battery sled and SD card from the bottom of the bag?

A: The bottom of this bag has a cover that is extendable and can be opened and closed with velcro. The cover is long enough fro large Sony battery at lease for one. It does look large enough tho.

The Arco Adjustable Harness for the AS A10G recorder bag is a great addition when you know you are going to have a long day.

The material is high quality and feels durable. Everything is adjustable with this harness so you can get it just the way you want it. It's also lightweight and balances out the weight of the bag perfectly.

It is a pretty big upgrade over the strap that comes with the field recorder bag. I like it and I'm sure my future sound people are really going to appreciate it.

The strap is really confortable and seems like a good and easy to wash material useful for long shooting journeys or a hard to walk location.

I have this harness to work with the Arco AS-A10G mixer bag.  Works as advertised.  Build quality is good.  Like the audio bag from Arco, this harness seem strong and well made.  Has multiple places to adjust the straps to your desired feel and shape.  And the clips seem rugged/strong.  I do not have the audio bag tricked out yet with all the gear (still need to get some things), but from my tests, it felt very comfortable to use this harness with the bag.  Distributes the weight really well and I can see this being vital for a long shoot or run and gun situation.  I also like how the color scheme matches the bag for an expensive/professional look.

Also, I love that it comes with a supplied storage bag.  This might sound silly, but being able to store it away when not in use is very convenient and helpful.  In my experience, having a case also tends to enable gear to last longer as it saves on wear and tear on the actual item.  So I’m happy this came with one. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]
