Q: 5. If affixed to camera like the Nikon Z6, can you still use the viewfinder or does the back of the shock mount get in the way? If so, could a shoe mount accessory solve that?

A: The viewfinder will not be blocked by the microphone's shoe mount.

Q: 6. Is this microphone good for recording a symphony orchestra concert? i.e. is it good at picking up a decent range of frequency from the deepest of basses to the highest pitch of a piccolo?

A: Hello Anthony R. Thank you for your inquiry in regards to the SMX-30 Stereo/Mono Switchable Video Microphone. To answer your question, yes. The SMX-30's stereo capsules are broadcast quality and will give you excellent frequency response from 40Hz-20kHz. This is more than sufficient to capture all the detail of a symphony orchestra and will give you a full, natural sounding recording. To get the best performance out of the microphone, engage the +20dB boost switch and turn down your cameras volume so that your cameras audio meters peak at -12dB or slightly higher. Also, make sure to leave the low cut filter switch of the SMX-30 in the OFF position. Of course, make sure the mic is in STEREO mode.

Q: 7. What is the 3.5mm plug cord length on the SMX-30?

A: It's 20 cm, 8 inches.

Q: 8. I video marching bands from press boxes, maybe 200 feet or more from the band. Is this a decent microphone to use? I'm looking to improve sound recorded using my Panasonic HDC-TM900 (older) video camera.

A: yes I feel that it would . During warm= ups I would switch through the settings mono/stereo but I would think stereo would be a good choice during the performance

Q: 9. What’s the difference between the MSFT and the UC versions?

A: The Logitech Logi Dock MSFT Teams (Graphite), BH # LOLDMSFTTGRP, and the Logitech Logi Dock UC (Graphite), BH # LOLDUCGRP, are virtually identical in form, function, and performance. The MSFT version is pre-configured and allows a single touch for joining an MS Teams meeting.

Q: 10. Does this microphone work with Canon Vixia Camcorders?

A: Just check the camera or the manual to see if it does have a microphone input. Not all Vixia models have microphone inputs. If it does have a microphone input, then the SMX-30 is compatible. You may also want to check if the camera has a cold shoe slot to mount the microphone. If not, you may want to look into alternative mounting solutions.
