Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Several on camera monitors have a second cold-shoe mount on the side for something like a microphone. Would there be any issue using this microphone sideways?

A: yes. this mic is designed to give to the left speaker what is left of frame and the same with the right. something or someone that is interested b the middle (in front of the camera) will get an extra boost as well as separation from off camera sounds.if you orient the mic as ou mentioned, you'll get sound bouncing off the ground in one speaker and sound from the sky above in the other which will make for a weird stereo image that at the same time adds noise to the dialog that would otherwise not be there.better to use a mono shotgun style mic or find a way to flip this one right side up.

Q: 2. Can i plug the Sennheiser MKE 440 into my Tascam DR-05 Portable Handheld Digital Audio Recorder ?

A: Yes Tuscam DR-05 has 3.5mm mic/line sterio input (unbalanced)For professional work I suggest Tuscam DR-100mkiii which has XLR inputs and Senheiser MKE 440 using Alzo Stereo Microphone XLR Adapter Cord for Pro Camcoders (B&H#AL130). It will produce excellent broadcast quality sound.

Q: 3. Dear sir, is the Sennheiser MKE 440 compatible with Canon 60D?

A: If the 60D has a microphone jack, I dont why it wouldnt work

Q: 4. Please confirm, is the MZH 440 Fur included or not? thanks

A: MZH 440 Windshield is not included. It is available separately.

Q: 5. Would this be the correct model for the Sennheiser MKH 50?

A: The Super-Shield Kit for Shotgun Mics (Small) from Rycote will accommodate several mics including the MKH-50. Rycote also recommends the Modular Windshield WS 2 Kit for a more robust solution.

Q: 6. Does it work for sennheiser mke600? If not, which one do you have that does fit it?

A: Yes, the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Long Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics will fit mics with a diameter of 18 to 24mm, and the Sennheiser MKE 600 has a diameter of 20mm.

Q: 7. Will the newer iPhones work with this and a lighting adapter?

A: It will not work properly. Only one of the two stereo mic capsules will work. If your primary use for this mic is for your iPhone, you are better off with either a Mono mic (such as the Sennheiser MKE400 and similar microphones. If you need stereo, look for a which is designed for the iPhone with a lightning connector on it (Shure and Rode, both have good options)

Q: 8. What is the rearward rejection like on this mic?

A: The rearward and lateral rejection is quite good. It is not 100% of course. I was shocked at how good it is at lateral rejection. It almost completely eliminated the noise from the shutter of my DSLR with the mic about 10 feet to the side up about 5 feet. My rode mics in x/y configuration 10 feet to the right picked up significant shutter noise. It also greatly reduces room echo.

Q: 9. How does this mic hold up in LOUD environments? Clipping issues at all?

A: No clipping issues as far as my use with it is concerned. I am very impressed with the mics ability to pull the audio out of the direction its pointed amidst a loud environment. B&H demonstrates this quite nicely in their own in store review video. Out of all the mics I have used, I honestly give it a solid 10/10 all around.

Q: 10. Would this Super-Shield be too large for the DPA 4018B?

A: This windshield kit should be compatible with this version of the 4018, https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1050594-REG/dpa_microphones_4018a_full_size_super_cardioid.html. Any other version may be too small.

I used the RODE VideoMic GO on a boomstand with a six-foot 3.5 mm extension cord. I was able to dial the sound levels right in.The upgrade in quality from my previous system was well worth the money. Sound quality improved to great. Mike

I bought this as an upgrade to the VideoMicro (I am reviewing the VideoMic GO II, actually two different lines of product). My primary motivation for getting this mic is that it has a super cardioid instead of the cardioid of the VideoMicro. This means the VideoMic GO II has a pickup pattern of both front AND back, which is more ideal for run and gun interview style shooting. The shock absorber mount is an upgrade too, having two points of mounting, instead of one in the VideoMicro. This fixes the annoyance where the audio cable coming out of the back of the mic will pull the mic downward.
Overall, the sound quality is actually very similar between the two mics, but I guess with VideoMic GO II, there is also the added versability (and electronic complexity) of being able to use with a computer. For its price, it is a great step up from the on camera mics, which while being stereo on my Canon R6, pick up a lot more noise from the camera.

I purchased this microphone to pair with my Sony a6400 for vlog style shooting and have been very impressed with the instant boost in sound quality. The all metal construction is very nice as well and the lyre suspension system is great for reducing handling noise. All in all this is a great microphone for the sub $100 category.

Perfect sized mic in a small package. Mainly using for higher quality scratch audio while filming weddings but it does a nice job capturing really usable ambient sound from moments throughout the day.

I started with the Micro, but soon desired some of the features found in this shotgun mic. I felt this version was a good balance between the micro and the more expensive NTG/Pro versions. I love the improved shockmount, a single mount is annoying since the mic bounces a lot with one mount. I also dig how versatile this mic is. I can use it on my cams or plug it into my computer for voiceovers. The pickup is much improved over the Micro, sound is more full, and overall I wish I had just started with this mic instead. It handles close and somewhat far audio pickup well, fulfilling pretty much all of my nearfield audio needs. I mostly use the 3.5mm input, but the USB output offers more granular control via RodeCentral. I like that's powered by USB/3.5mm, battery based mic's run the risk of running out at inopportune times. The only con is that I wish they'd provided the nicer coiled 3.5mm cable found in the Micro, but the supplied cable is fine.

This Rode is a big improvement over the Smaller Rhode micro. Having a port to connect directly to your computer is a game changer for voice overs if you are making videos. The price is right the quality is superb.
