Scott Kelby, the #1 best-selling author of photography technique books and Editor-in-chief of Photoshop User magazine, brings you the 2nd edition of Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It from Rocky Nook.

Scott has reinvented how flash lighting books are written by finally revealing the entire process from start to finish. You see everything from the complete flash and softbox setup (including all the gear used), to the shoot (including all the camera and flash settings), to the all-important part that most books don't dare include—the post-processing and retouching in Lightroom and Photoshop.

This book also breaks new ground in the visual way it teaches you exactly how and where to set up your flash. There aren't any sketches or drawings; you see the actual lighting setup, taken from above during a live shoot, so you can see exactly where everything's positioned. Plus, you'll see side, over-the-shoulder, and more behind-the-scenes views (with all the exact measurements), so you can absolutely nail the lighting every time.

Scott has trained thousands of photographers during his Light It. Shoot It. Retouch It. LIVE! seminar tour, and he's taken that incredibly popular style of learning and put it into book form.

Learn All 3 Aspects for Great Photos    Step-by-step Setups for Quality Photos    Professional Retouching Techniques    Precise Measurements for All Setups    Maximize Use of a Single Flash

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there any way I can see this with an ipad attached to it?

A: The mount is made for a standard DSLR. You'll have to get an adapter.

Q: 2. Two questions here. I work in a studio setting with 500 W daylight bulbs. Will this stand the high heat generated by the bulbs? Also, with the light be distributed enough to light an entire person, standing, or objects the size of a car if I use two units?

A: Hi Rebecca. I use profoto D1 and B1 strobes versus continuous light. So, I'm not sure the heat rating of this umbrella. If you're shooting with fluorescent or LED lights, I would guess you'll be ok. If you're using anything that generates a lot of heat, I'd check with the manufacturer for what it can handle regarding heat. As far as coverage, I use this all the time for large groups as my fill light and it works great. You get a lot of diffusion for the price.

Q: 3. Can this light be mounted without the flexible stand mount? From the video it looks wobbly with the camera mounted.

A: The Flexible Stand Mount is a seperate included adapter, & other adapters can be used.

Q: 4. Do batteries come with this light?

A: Unfortunately, the Ledgo Bi-Color Flood Shoot-Through LED Ring Light doesn't include batteries. The Smith-Victor NP-F750 Lithium-Ion Batteries and Dual Charger Bundle, BH# SM401669 would be compatible. https://bhpho.to/3KKwIRy

Q: 5. Would this guide work for most of the settngs for the a7R V?

A: No, the Rocky Nook David Busch's Sony a7R IV Guide to Digital Photography will not work for the settings on the Sony a7R V Mirrorless Camera because the menu system has been upgraded.

Q: 6. Is there a comprehensive index at the back of this book?

A: Yes, the Rocky Nook David Busch's Sony a7R IV Guide to Digital Photography has a comprehensive index in the back.

Q: 7. Is there a way to mount a GoPro on this ring light? If so, what adapter is needed?

A: Being that this ringlight has a 1/4-20" thread on its base, the Revo Tripod Adapter with 1/4"-20 for GoPro, BH # RETPMGP can allow a GoPro to be attached behind the ringlight. https://bhpho.to/3ipWdeG

Q: 8. Is this light dimmable?

A: Yes, the Ledgo Bi-Color Flood Shoot-Through LED Ring Light is dimmable.

Q: 9. Is this gonna fit my elinchrom strobes?

A: Yes the umbrella will fit your strobes. I use the umbrella on my studio strobes and my mono lights on location. The size of the shaft should fit many different brands of strobes. Make sure you have a good stand to support the weight.

Q: 10. Why can't the 2nd Generation pencil work with the new mini iPad?

A: It would not be able to charge and it is not pairable.

It is big. Not suitable for closeup work big. The blue bendy tripod thingy is perfect for another tool I have, so that is a win for me.

OK, it's plastic; so it can feel "cheap"... but in reality this is a very nicely thought out product worth consideration. It probably won't survive being tossed in a lighting trunk with a spotlight dropped on it, but hey, nothing is indestructible and work within it's limitations and you'll be surprised. It is lightweight, that's a plus. Even with a couple of big Sony batteries on it the thing is very manageable. BTW it will run of dual batts (yes, you must have two batts installed, it won't run off just one) OR a wall plug. Big plus. It can mount to a lightstand, tripod, be hand held, or on 15mm rods. Again, big pluses. The blue handle is bendable. Hands down, this thing has about every conceivable mounting option covered AND a couple of hand-held options. Light is bright and even. Perfect for product photography and studio macro work. Temp is adjustable as is brightness. So far, no issues at all. It even comes with it's own carry case (but I also saved the cardboard box with handle for a bit more storage and transport protection). I don't think you can beat this for versatility and bang for the buck! It may be a bit bigger than it looks in the pictures, though. I have had no problems shooting with a DVX200, C300, and various DSLR's as the internal diameter is generous. I like it and use it often. Recommended!

I wrote a review a few weeks ago saying I returned my first light because the batteries didn't work on it. Well I received my new one today, pulled it out of the box, put my battery in the 1st battery port, and nothing happened again. This was enough to make me really look over the brief instructions and see if I was maybe missing something.

Nothing in the instructions told me that I was doing anything wrong. So I took the battery out of port 1 and put it into port 2. I still got nothing. Then I grabbed another battery and put it in port 1 while the other battery was in port 2 and the light lit right up now that both batteries were in.

I'm very happy it's working now that I've figured it out, but I'm very frustrated that there is nothing in the instructions saying 2 batteries have to be in both ports for it to work with the batteries. So make sure you use 2 batteries instead of only 1 or it won't work with the batteries. Other than all the hassle of returning my light in exchange for another one, I still give it 5 stars because it's a great light and I can't wait to use it! B&H themselves did a great job in making my return/exchange hassle free.

The light is a little fragile, but it has a lot of features that make it very versatile. Plug in it, use the batteries, carrying handles for free hand panning of FB lives, camera rail you can add a phone mount to, make this a single light source that can solve a lot of functions that go way beyond a youtube make-up shoot.

I purchased this light on sale from B&H. I am still experimenting with light. It is light and is easy to carry and move around on a light stand.
Very bright. The dimmer and color temp controls work fine. Are there better lights than this one, yes. But this light works for me at a low cost.

I had been eyeing ring lights for a while and needed an extra light that was small and portable yet powerful for when I go Live from my cell phone or anywhere in the house or on the go that the lighting is not so good.

This thing came through shinning really bright light and being able to adjust it to be warmer or cooler for the right look.  I like how I can have it above me and tilt it own to kind of rain down on me at an angle.

I have not set my phone on it or a camera on it yet so I cant speak to using that part of it, but this thing just plain works.

I really like the hand rail holders if you are doing a run and gun shoot.  It seems like they thought of everything with his one.

I bought this LED ring light to shoot product shots of ceramics, it works great. And the daylight setting of 5500 K matches the raw daylight setting in PhotoShop....so everything is color perfect.

I love the Ledgo LED lights, I had their first models of the regular LEDs and they are amazing. This ring light is simply stunning the amount of light that it outputs and how beautifully it works.
