Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this umbrella for my Westcott TD6 light?

A: Should be fine!

Q: 2. can it fit a 45 umbrella? its only 4 more inches

A: It fits on my 45 Photoflex umbrella with room to spare.

Q: 3. Can the black cover come off?

A: No, the black backing is fully integrated into the umbrella and does not come off. Profoto does manufacture a translucent white version of this umbrella - but that's obviously expensive. If you're looking for a lightbox option to pair with the umbrella, I'd suggest the umbrella diffuser - it is a lot less expensive that another umbrella and definitely extends the range of lighting options the umbrella provides. - I hope this helps.

Q: 4. What is the front to back depth of this when it is open?

A: It is 15 deep.

Q: 5. This is not a question . However it might be helpful information . This (Large) Profoto Umbrella Diffuser fits on a 60in Wescott optical white satin with black removable cover umbrella . ?

Q: 6. Hi - would the medium fit a 60 Westcott umbrella? I can't find a Westcott diffuser panel by Westcott for their 60 umbrella, so was wondering if the profoto one would fit instead.

A: The medium will be too small. Get the next size. You will love it.

Q: 7. What is the maximum umbrella diameter that the diffuser can hold?

A: These were designed to be used on Profoto 51" deep umbrellas https://bhpho.to/2K32MTo. Your results may vary when used on other sizes.

Q: 8. What's the diameter, in inches?

A: Hi there - it's 41 . It works with this kind of umbrella:

Q: 9. Is there a fabric to cover the front of the umbrella?

A: Yes. You can buy separately a diffuser to cover the front. I did and it is very good

Q: 10. does it open like an umbrella or do you have to spoke it like a vintage softbox?

A: This is a duffuser for an umbrella. It is just a piece of cloth with no rods or support.

Because I do a broad range of on site photography I recently purchased a set of umbrellas in various sizes made by Profoto. Though I had not used any of their products the reviews looked good but I was skeptical about the higher cost. I sometimes shoot in small locations with wood stained walls which are not desirable to bounce flash from so I started with the 33 inch white. These umbrellas were so much better made than anything that I had previously used that I decided to try replacing an old set of soft boxes with another set of Profoto's larger silver deep dish with diffusers. I now have two small white 33 deep dish, one medium silver 41 deep dish w/diffuser panel and one large silver 51 w/diffuser panel to cover various size sets and they are much more durable, better constructed and offer a nice reflection of light. The deep dish design allows for better control of light and feathering and add the diffuser to silver umbrella for an alternative to soft boxes with much quicker and easier set up/tear down and compact portability. I have used all of these umbrellas in my studio with good results and plan to carry them for on location photography. Both the umbrellas and the diffuser panels come in their own pre-labeled, individual durable protective cases and can be easily packed into your light stand case. Pricey but worth the $$.

I just picked up this diffuser for the deep medium umbrella (silver). I live in an area where harsh light is the norm which is why I went with silver umbrella. I will use it almost exclusively outdoors when the wind is calm. I use the diffuser with a tri-flash adapter holding 3 canon 600's, and the diffuser will fit around it all with a little manipulation of the umbrella pole (tilt down towards parallel with the stand). This photo was taken with the diffuser and I think around 1/16th -1/8th power on the 3 flashes. Without the diffuser the shadow lines on the left side of her face would be noticeably more distinct.

I have been using these with my Profoto Deep Silver medium-sized umbrellas with my Profoto studio strobes for quite a while with great results. I bought this diffuser to use with the small Profoto Deep Silver umbrella with speedlights. It is fast to set up and take down, folds to nothing to carry, and yields a great quality of the light.

Fits the Profoto well. Profoto and Photek make the best diffusers.
