The Paradigm EPs provide a lot of competition to this, but I thought the greater eye relief, less 'blinky' eye placement, and slightly better field edges with an F5 scope were worth it. I like the eyecup adjusment and the fact that you can easily screw it off to clean the eye lens well...that's a very thoughtful touch. Same contrast as the Paradigms, which is to say: excellent. 5

Purchased for use with my Takahashi APO telescope. Build quality is excellent. Field stop is razor sharp. Great field of view. Little lateral color, no ghosting or lens flare, high contrast and sharp image to the edge of field. While primarily designed for use with Pentax spotting scopes. It works great in fast f-ratio telescopes = f/6. Great price, too, for an eyepiece of this quality. 5

This eyepiece produces great views in my telescopes that range from f5 to f11. The eye relief is good as well. The click eye guard is a bonus. 5

About 90+% sharp (to me) in an F5 telescope, 100% sharp at F8 and up. Excellent. Contrast is very good, and the size is not too bulky. The whole eyecup mechanism easily screws off, makes cleaning the eye surface easy...this is important at higher powers (long scope or Barlowed). Blackouts/kidney-beaning (sensitive eye placement) are very little, unless you multiply it to a very high power. Just a nice view and easy maintenance..super! 5

I bought this eyepiece after returning an XW 14mm. I prefer the ease of viewing, more manageable field of view, natural-sized eye lens, and equal sharpness and contrast (to my eye) of the XF12. The field is wide enough so that the field stop is out in the periphery, so if there is any loss of image quality at the edge, I'm unable to notice when using it. I own two pairs of Nikon Premier LX bins, so am used to a nice view. The eye lens is fairly deep-set, so the eye relief is just adequate with my glasses (glasses need to be touching the eye cup). Otherwise couldn't be happier. 5
