Minox says, "measuring is safer than guessing," and these 10x42 X-Range Rangefinder Binoculars help hunters accurately gauge the distance to their targets for an accurate shot. The measuring range is approximately 3000 yards and the multicoated extra-low dispersion lenses produce a brilliant image quality to ensure a reliable identification of game, while stalking, from a blind in the woods, or during a challenging mountain hike. The X-Range measures the distance to your target with 1-yard accuracy out to 1093 yards and 2-yard accuracy beyond that, and shows the results on an OLED display inside the binoculars' view. IPX7 waterproof and nitrogen-filled to prevent internal fogging, the 10x42 X-Range will generate 4000 measurements on a single CR2 battery. With its extremely compact dimensions, the 10x42 X-Range will likely become an important part of your hunting kit.

Q: 1. What are the main differences between X-Active 8x25 and the older Minox BV 8x25 (62059) they replace? I compared the specs and can see the X-Active are a few ounces lighter but not much else. Are there any differences in terms of optics?
A: Its a newer coating and a newer procedure on putting the coatings on. Better image color results and improvement in light transmission
Q: 2. Does it come with a tripod and adapter? My impression was based on the stock images that it does.
A: The MFR website says, Tripod adaptable. Included Accessories Objective Lens & Eyepiece Caps | Neck Strap | Carrying Harness | Lens Cloth | Instruction Manual This is the additional accessory .. Q: 3. Do they have a tripod mount?
A: Yes. In the front middle of hinge covered by a cap.
Q: 4. Are the roof prisms in the Minox 8-44 X-HD phase-coated?
A: Dielectric-Coated Roof Prisms. This type of coatings are found on roof prisms of binocular and are there to increase light reflectivity - As the light is incident at a glass–air boundary with an angle less than the critical angle, total internal reflection does not occur at that surface. To solve this problem, a mirror coating is used on those surfaces. To quantify typically an aluminium mirror coating is used that has a reflectivity of 87% to 93%) or a silver mirror coating (reflectivity of 95% to 98%) is used. The light transmission of the prism can be improved by using a dielectric coating rather than a metallic mirror coating. This causes the prism surfaces to act as a dielectric mirror. The dielectric multilayer coating increases reflectivity from the prism surfaces by acting as a distributed Bragg reflector. A well-designed dielectric coating can provide a reflectivity of more than 99% across the visible light spectrum.
Q: 5. Minox appear to not publish exit pupil distance eye relief. This measurement is critical to know for eye glasses wearers. What is it for these binoculars?
A: A ccording to the Minox manual for the Minox 8x56 X-HD Binoculars BH #MI8X56XHDB • MFR #10023 the rye relief is 20mm. https://cache.tradeinn.com/images/pdf/manuales/eng_minox_manu_xhd_series.pdf
Q: 6. are those made in Germany?
A: No they are made in Portugal. I have a pair of Trinovid 8 X 32 I bought about 20 yrs ago that were made in Germany; these (10X40) are just as good. Both terrific. I like the larger image. The slightly heavier weight also help me steady my tremor. Good glasses!
Q: 7. What are the main differences between X-Active 8x25 and the older Minox BV 8x25 (62059) they replaced? I compared the specs and can see the X-Active are a few ounces lighter but not much else. Are there any differences in terms of optics?
A: Newer coatings and a newer procedure to put the coating on the elements. Increases light transmission and colors
Q: 8. Which bino is a lighter, smaller item for hiking and 1000meter distance
A: The distance of 1,000 meters is over ½ mile. You made a good choice with the Leica. You may want to consider a binocular that is 10x32, which will have the same magnification but will be smaller and lighter. The ZEISS 10x32 Conquest HD (B&H# ZE10X32C) or the Leica 10x32 Trinovid HD (B&H# LE10X32THDB) are great choices.
Q: 9. Where are these made?
A: This pair are made in China.
Q: 10. Does this binocular come with front and back rain guards? On Minox's website it indicates that it does but I don't see it mentioned here under what comes in the box. Thanks.
A: Yes it dose come with caps.
