Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I hope my question isn't too specialized - I will be grateful for an educated guess. I am using a Fuji XT-3 to shoot video. I have used an HDMI cable to run an external monitor (just a cheap desktop monitor) and, separately, to control an audio recorder's start/stop (the Sound Devices MixPre-3 ii). Of course I want to do both at the same time and this device looks like it might enable me to do that. Does this setup have a fair chance of working?

A: This something you'd need to test out to see the results, but we would tend to think a product like this would not pass the needed info to trigger the start/stop recording through HDMI.

Q: 2. how is the audio quality of the analog outputs? Thanks, John.

A: While the perceived quality of analog audio is a highly subjective notion, we can report that user satisfaction with this product is very high and no negative feedback has been recorded in regards to audio quality.

Q: 3. Can I use this device to watch older content (720x480,640x480) with VLC player and send it to my s-video equipped CRT Television at the correct 4:3 aspect ratio?

A: This device maintains the aspect ratio of the original source material. Thus HD content will be letterboxed on your CRT.

Q: 4. is it anamorphic or can you take a 1080 16x9 and do a 4x3 cut?

A: If the inputted HDMI signal is 16x9 it should output the video to 4x3 with letter boxing on the top and bottom.

Q: 5. Can i connect 2 of these in sequence to feed 2 TOSLINK recipients + 1 HDMI?

A: Yes you can.

Q: 6. Will this device successfully output sound via optical out to my DACmagic plus from Cambridge Audio? I am planning on connecting this device with either the new apple tv 4k or roku ultra. I will use my Rega Brio analog only integrated amplifier for 2 channel audio. Many thanks for your guidance.

A: Hi Jacques. While we haven't tested the OMX-05HMHM0001 with the DACMagic unit specifically, we don't foresee any issues. You should be able to connect the TOSLINK output of the OMX-05HMHM0001 right to the input of our DACMagic Plus unit and the extracted audio signal should pass without issue as long as the DACMagic supports the audio format being output. Thank you!

Q: 7. I have a samsung smart tv with two hdmi inputs. I use one for cable and have to constantly switch out the second one between 3 other items will this solve that problem? Also Will I be able to use two items that are plugged in to the splitter at once. For example a PS4 and a sound bar? Thanks for your help.

A: No It only has 1 input. You would be in the same situation. This is for sending a signal to multiple tvs.

Q: 8. if the original signal (hdmi in) has video and audio; the audio in for 3.5 connector overwrite the original audio?

A: The purpose of the 3.5mm is to provide audio for an HDMI signal that doesn't carry audio at all.

Q: 9. Does this unit internally process 8 or 10-bit signal to the output?

A: Gefen HDMI to Composite and S-Video Scaler processes in 8-Bit.

Q: 10. Does the CEC bypass allow the TV remote's volume control to change the volume of the R/L 3.5mm headphone output?

A: Unfortunately, the Ocean Matrix 4K HDMI to HDMI Audio Extractor/De-Embedder with Dolby ATMOS CEC will not allow the TV's remote to control volume of the 3.5mm output. That will need to be adjusted by using the equipment that the output is connected to.
