When the camera is turned off, the AC-5 will then charge the batteries. The E-M1X has two orange light on the body to show that the batteries are being charged.

As always from Olympus, the quality is top notch. Seems like it should be cheaper, but at least with this one there is no doubt that it will perform well for many years and provide the necessary interface to power my camera equipment sufficiently.

Everything as expected -- charges the E-M1X nicely.

I currently own the Olympus OMD EM1 Mark III camera. I use it for long astrophotography sessions. Sometimes I run it for 5-6 hours at a time. I need this adapter to connect to the extended battery grip which I then connect to a Jackery Power Station. The AC-5 adapter is perfect! It's a simple adapter, but just like other Olympus equipment - it's very well constructed.

Quality as expected.

This does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I have a 4K Ben Q monitor and a 2015 MacBook Pro that I have running in another room because of fan noise in my studio. I have an optical thunderbolt cable but couldn’t get 4K 60hz at the tail end of my Thunderbolt Daisy chain. No cable would allow me to get 4K at 60hz at the distance I needed. The longest cable run I could do was 6ft or so and that was unreliable. I got a very short DP cable run directly into the repeater and then I ran a 25ft display port cable outside the room and tacked it to the wall. Works perfectly. Make sure you have the shortest possible cable running directly to this box from the source. This is a great solution and doesn’t require you to spend $350+ on optical cabling that dies after a couple years because the lasers and sensors overheat.

I used to have the E-M1 and the AC-3. The newer bodies like my E-M1X use this newer adapter that has a more standard style barrel connection and more beefy power supply. Interestingly enough, this newer 45 watt power supply is more compact than the older Olympus one I used to have. I do like that the barrel connection is at a right angle. It looks more robust than the older proprietary connection on the E-M1. On the E-M1X, it can charge the batteries in the body when the body is switched off unlike with the E-M1 III with the HLD-9. It works stably and delivers reliable power. You can even run the E-M1X with just the power adapter connected and no batteries installed, and if you are in the middle of something and don't want to power off the body, you can plug in the AC-5 then swap out the batteries then unplug the AC-5 and continue what you were doing.

Have used this several times with multi-voltage US products (e.g., camera battery chargers). Note: this is ONLY an adapter and not a converter or transformer.
