The Red 5.25 to 3.5" SAS/SATA 6.0 Gb/s Hot-Swap Cage from iStarUSA creates additional space for hard drives with hot-swap capability. This series supports RAID 1/0/1+0/5 configuration for high performance or redundancy data application. A high density multi-disk storage backplane allows multiple 3x3.5"(88.9mm) SAS/SATA hard drives to be mounted into 2 standards 5.25"(133.35mm). All-aluminum construction provides superior heat dissipation required for high-performance SAS/SATA drives, while a 2.75"(70mm) fan provides excellent front to back vent airflow.

This little hotswap plate really saves the day. No more powering down the camera to change batteries. Also gives a little more back weight with the second battery, balancing the camera for handheld shooting. 5

Definitely impressed with the quality of this. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect Sharkfin for a while now and this one is checking all the boxes. I like that it sits a bit further back than the AB ones and I like the read out. It’s perfect for those front heavy cameras giving you just that extra bit of weight off the back, every inch counts when you’re trying to balance for handheld. Been using it just a couple days with the Amira and I really love it. I wish it would have shipped a bit quicker but maybe they solved that issue by now. Also have to mention the amazing customer service I received, every question was answered insanely quick and they were really great to work with. Happy with my purchase. 5

this plate is really well made, the AB batts mount nice and snug, the p tap port is very useful. For alexa minis and reds, that are tend to be lightweight rigs, two batteries on the back gives the camera a better balance, especially on handheld and steadicam. Obviously, the hot swap function is a must. 5

Works great - the bottom PTAP port isn't wired, but that is a known thing with this model. It isn't really a problem as my wooden camera backplate for my camera has another port as well and this one has a working Ptap port on the top as well. 5

I used it to connect my Tandberg LTO5 SAS tape drive and my eSATA Bluray writer to my Thunderbolt 3 laptop. No problems. You will need compatible SAS cables. 5

Great cage for the Komodo. I needed a cage that would work easily with the expansion module attached. The bottom of this cage is it’s own separate piece and easy to remove. It works well with the expansion module. Plenty of 1/4 20’s all around to mount accessories to. Two thumbs up... 5
