This 82mm Black Mist Filter from Ice has a 1/8 grade diffusion level to provide a reduction in contrast and create a softer quality of light. The effect creates a cinematic image quality for both still and moving images. The black mist also serves to soften wrinkles and blemishes for easy portraiture.

This filter is made of optical glass and features 8 layers of coatings on each side for optimal light transmission without adding any coloration. It also has a water-resistant finish for use in harsh and environments and for easy cleaning. The slim aluminum filter ring can be used on wide-angle lenses without vignetting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this pouch accommodate 52mm filters that are left in their cases? I have Nikon black and white contrast filters that come in fitted screw-together shell. This makes them a bit wider but thicker as well. Thanks!

A: I don't think the B6 will. But the B4 (designed for filters up to 82mm) will. I've tried it and it's snug but not overly so.

Q: 2. Do the filters have 82mm front thread so that I can use mattebox and NDs if needed?

A: Yes. Each of the Hoya HMC close-up filters has a 82mm front-filter thread.

Q: 3. Is this lens filter coated?

A: Yes :)

Q: 4. Are there front threads and if so, what is the diameter?

A: The B+W 010 UV Haze MRC Nano Filter (95mm, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) has 95mm front threads.

Q: 5. How much better is the image equality on these compared to the $15 Vivitar set?

A: Image quality with the Hoya 82mm HMC Close-Up Filter Set II (+1, +2, and +4) is superior to the image quality when using the Vivitar 82mm Close-Up Macro Lens Kit. The Hoya filters are coated. The coatings will reduce flair.

Q: 6. Can the Expodisk v3 be purchased with both the 82 mm and the 77 mm Step-down Rings?

A: Yes the ExpoDisc V3 Professional White Balance Filter can be used with step rings but you can also just hold the larger filter over the smaller lens to take the reference photo. It does not need to be attached to the lens.

Q: 7. What does different between B+W 82mm T-PRO UV Filter BH #BWUVTP82 • MFR #1097759 ?

A: The B+W 82mm T-PRO UV Filter is a slim filter that helps prevent vignetting on wide-angle lenses.

Q: 8. Does it have rotating filter ring?

A: Yes, it does.

Q: 9. Is the Hoya RA54 filter coated for anti-reflection, or, more to the point, is flaring an issue with it?

A: I have used a 49 mm in my optical train on a refracting telescope setup after the field flattener optics and before the t ring adapter for a Nikon D3300 camera body. My stars are circular through out the image plane, no coma or fringing. It does reduce light pollution, so longer exposures can be made for astrophotography. Never used it for day light photography. I would think if it performs well as an inexpensive light pollution filter for astrophotography, it should perform well for other non-wide angle applications.

Q: 10. is this the same as Hoya 77mm Enhancing (Intensifier) Glass Filter except sizes?

A: Yes, this is the same filter.

Very important product. If you are new to the 35mm Digital Cameras, please be advised you need one of these filters for every lens you own. They are reasonably priced and provide UV protection and also provide safety to your original lens. Easy to install with screw thread mount. Check the MM of your lens and buy the correct size.

I simply use this as a lens protector. I hadn't had one on a particular lens until now and I wanted one that I could trust to protect and not diminish my photo qualities. This is the filter I use for all my lenses and I am happy that they are all covered now.

I am a firm believer in always keeping a filter on my lenses b/c they are cheaper to replace than the front element. I choose this filter because I am a brand snob and wanted to get a good quality filter without going too high-end. I have read mixed reviews on this filter but I have been very pleased with the photos I take with it on

Every Lens Needs One

I was told to keep a UV filter on my camera, if for no other reason than to protect the lens. Last week my camera slipped out of my hands and landed on my desk. The six-inch fall was enough was enough to drive the lens cover thru my filter. I was relieved to find that when I cleaned the broken glass away, the lens glass and mechanism were saved. Today I am buying another filter instead of a new lens.

I'm not a professional photog, but I was told by a friend to buy a UV protector as something of a 'consumable lens' - so if it scratches or gets screwed up, my real lens will still be perfect. The day after I put it on, a cow licked the lens (a little too close up), and I was able to just wipe it off with my shirt, with no worries about ruining the lens. Highly recommended.

I keep this on my lens at all times. It's great for protection, and I like the fact that I don't have to constantly clean my lens. Picture quality improvement is an obvious plus! It attaches and detaches easily.

This is a great quality filter for the price. I have owned other filters in the past, Tiffen, Sunpack, etc, and the Canon finish durability and clarity of optics is excellent.
