Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with elinchrom strobes?

A: As Elinchrom strobes have a light stand socket that is compatible with the standard 5/8 Baby stud on the Impact Combo Boom Stand - 12.95'. While it would be compatible with Elinchrom strobes, I would recommend to check the weight of your light and/or any light modifiers you will be using and ensure it fits the stand's maximum load limit. As indicated under the Specifications tab, when used as standard stand, the maximum load of the stand is 19.84 lbs (9.0 kg). When used at maximum extension, the maximum load of the stand is 4.4 lb (2.0 kg), and when used at maximum extension with 6 inclination, the maximum load of the stand is 2.0 lb (0.9 kg).

Q: 2. What microphone holders are best to use with this stand?

A: This comes with a 3/8 screw which is compatible with many Audio items

Q: 3. Can this hold a reflector? Do I need to buy any additional attachments?

A: This can easily hold a reflector. You best and cost effective solution would to get some A clamps and clamp the reflector to the arm. Click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/3bmuuqm

Q: 4. What all is included with this item? What gear comes with it? I looked at the In the Box tab, but I just wanted to make sure.

A: Mine came with the stand, boom arm, spigot, and empty sand bag.

Q: 5. Will this support an Amaran 200x with an Aputure light box 30120?

A: The Impact Combo Boom Stand (12.95') BH #IMLSCB6 will not support a 200x on the boom.

Q: 6. Mine stand did not come with a latch for the sandbag... where can I get one? What are they called?

A: There is a loop on the end of the boom for a clip. Any basic carabineer styled clip would work.

Q: 7. At it's minimum height of 45 inches, this stand is too tall to fit into my travel bags. Will the top sections of the stand pull out from the base to make it more compact for travel, or are they fixed in the central column?

A: The Impact Combo Boom Stand (12.95') does not come apart to make the collapsed size smaller.

Q: 8. Can this be used to mount a strobe and heavy modifier or a c stand would be better? How do I fill the empty sand bag?

A: Yes. Be mindful that the following has a 15lbs payload support system.

Q: 9. What’s the best bag for this stand?

A: The Tenba Tripak is a good bag, click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/31QvyzH

Q: 10. Will a sand bag help increase the weight limit? If not what's my next best option for approximately the same price?

A: The sand bag will help with keeping the stand balanced and from tipping over, but it will not increase the structural support. That being said, I chose this stand over the Manfrotto of the same design because the boom angle adjuster is significantly stronger.

This is my first boom stand. It is noticeably larger and sturdier than my lightweight light stands. I added a neweer arm with clamp to it to add a reflector, when using the boom as a hair light. I used the same arm and a second flash to create a very portable clam shell set up. Great stand.

First thing I noticed is the impressive build of the stand. Very similar in quality to my Avenger (Manfrotto) light stands, that I've used for over a decade with zero issues. Love the design of how the entire unit fits within itself. I do interview set-ups remotely, regularly, and the design makes it easier to transport.

I bought this stand to record in process videos in my studio. I've attached my phone with a phone holder, and my DSRL camera using the mount on the end of the stand. Both work great!

I use the stands for lighting video and copy stand work in the Archive.

The stands arrived double boxed and well packed. Everything went together perfectly except for 1 wheel that I had to coax on in spots with a wrench.

Wheels are similar to the wheels used on inline skates. Stands roll as smoothly as possible. Legs deploy easily and stow with a secure, spring lock. Adjustment knobs are metal with a heavy plastic cover.

I'm very happy with the stands and would buy again.

This is probably more than you need if you are just using it to support a computer tether tool table, which is exactly what I bought it for. I didn't realize how thick the main stem would be. Plenty sturdy and rolls like it should. Nicely adjustable to a perfect height for my applications. I'm glad I have it, it totally gives the table the plenty of secure stability and for me that means confidence.

This stand actually surprised me when I pulled it out of the box. Almost entirely made of metal. I have Impact heavy duty stands and the mounting spigot for the pin is made of plastic which has not failed but does make me nervous about heavy attachements. This stand is ALL metal and gives me lots of confidence. I will be using this to mount microphones at times but mostly lighting. I've hung some small pop-lights like the aputure MC and the Yongnuo YN360 light wand for a hair light during interview and it's great. I love that it fits into itself, makes it easy to transport and no need to lug around annoying extra parts for my c-stand.

Very versatile light stand. Can be used either as a boom or a tall pole. Sturdy with a large footprint and fixture for counterweight for stability. Comes with a bag for the counterweight, but the user must provide the sand filling. Well worth the price.
