This Handheld Controller features the ability to trigger the Run/Stop of supported cameras (cable required). This allows for control of the camera remotely for when it may be inaccessible. The microRemote Handheld Unit also has a built in Run/Stop light that indicates when the camera is recording or not, so the camera does not need to be within your line of sight.

All lenses are mapped to the full 270° rotation of the microRemote. This is especially helpful for DSLR lenses that have very short throws, but also very helpful for some Cinema Lenses that have long throws. The expanded mapping on DSLR Lenses is designed to allow refined and precise focus pulls. The mapping process makes all lenses feel similar, allowing for a consistent feel throughout all lenses.

Q: 1. can you order this kit with the collins clamp so you can clamp the finger wheel to the movi m5?

A: Hi and thanks for the question. Yes you can absolutely order a collins clamp and swap out the ring connector with the collins clamp. If you have any questions on how to do that just drop us a line at support@redrockmicro.comHope that helps

Q: 2. is this rig compatible with Gh4 with lumix 12-35 lens ?

A: This can be compatible with any camera and lens. The lens require a focus ring with a .8 pitch lens gear (or this can be added to a DSLR lens additionally). You will need a 15mm based rig to mount these components, and most importantly a power source that outputs DC power such as a V-Mount or Gold Mount battery and battery plate with a D-Tap output.

Q: 3. I'm wondering with this wireless follow focus on a movi M5 with a Gh4 if it would be too front heavy for it to work properly with Veydra lenses. Would I just be wasting my money?

A: Hi Matt - great question. The microRemote is the smallest and lightest remote available, and should be no problem with the setup you describedc. we've rigged DSLRs in similar setups. we've used veydra a lot too with good resultsWeight balancing will be the thing to make this sing. you'll want to keep things low, and with the heavier veydra lens, try mounting the basestation behind or beneath the camera to offset that weight as much as you can. Fortunately the GH4 isn't a very heavy camera. hope that helps

Q: 4. I see that the basestation is wireless ready , does that mean it will connect and work with the handheld wireless remote?

A: Hi Anthony - yes that is correct. just add this hand unit (you can purchase it later) and its ready for wireless:a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1014379-REG/redrock_micro_3_114_0001_microremote_handheld_wireless_focus.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1014379-REG/redrock_micro_3_114_0001_microremote_handheld_wireless_focus.html/aplease note the picture of the hand unit is outdated - the new version is slimmer and smaller

Q: 5. Does the motor step (Is it jerky) at very slow speeds or is it rock solid at all speeds?

A: Hi Vince - thanks for asking! Since 3.0 (released last year) the microRemote is exceptionally smooth at all speeds. the 3.0 update doubled the resolution (FYI new versions are shipping with 3.0 but it's also a free firmware update to all previous remote customers!) - hope that helps

Q: 6. Hello. Can you tell me the size of the box containing the Follow Focus Redrock microRemote Wireless Bundle ?thank you

A: The size of this products box is 14.1 L x 10.2 W x 6.9 H.

Q: 7. Is that new setup with Atlas motor Redrock Micro Atlas Smart Motor Single Channel Focus Control With Wireless Hand Controller B&H # RE621550001here is the link to it https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1338835-REG/redrock_micro_62_155_0001_atlas_smart_motor_single.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1338835-REG/redrock_micro_62_155_0001_atlas_smart_motor_single.html/a better than regular torque motor from redrock micro? We are now looking for the wireless follow focus system to use with our Ronin M gimbal; and a7sII camera and this Atlas motors with no base station looks nice but are they better than a torque one?Are Atlas motors are more professional or&?And other question is how many atlas motors can the Redrock Micro microRemote Handheld Wireless Focus Controller work with?

A: Hi Iaroslav thanks for your questionsthe Atlas motor has several advantages over the Torque motor:1. it has 300% more torque and 200% more resolution2. it has the brain integrated into the motor, so there is no separate basestation3. it has many other advantages as a smart motor, including integrated radio, sbus (for drone and gimbal communication), wifi, app for configuration, daisy chain to support multiple channels, etc. - you can learn more about it on our website a href= http://shop.redrockmicro.com target= _blank shop.redrockmicro.com/aThe microRemote hand unit is a single channel hand unit. The atlas motors can be daisy-chained for FIZ (focus, iris, zoom)if you are looking for a 3 channel gimbal style control consider the Navigator 7-in-1 Command Module which has additional benefits to control the Ronin-M gimbal from the joystick as well, AND you can run it as solo operator fingerwheel style, or wireless FIZhope that helps

Q: 8. Looking to use this with Cinema glass on a Sony A7s I. Is there a start stop cable for the Sony a7s to trigger direct from the remote?

A: Redrock wants you to contact them regarding custom cables. support@redrockmicro.com.

Q: 9. Do you still need a battery pack of some kind to power it? If so what's the cheapest and lightest battery option?

A: Hi Dane - yes the microRemote does require power from an external source. You have a lot of options hereIf you are using an existing gimbal, you can often tap into the power provided from the gimbal's lipo battery (make sure you have the correct cable there). DJI, Freefly, and Letus are among the options thereif you need a standalone battery, you can use any p-tap compatible 12-14.4v battery. We often recommend switronix powerBase (there are many options, make sure to choose the one that is right for you) or a swit battery for sony camcorders with built-in p-tap like this one a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1027696-REG/swit_s_8u63_li_ion_rechargeable_battery.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1027696-REG/swit_s_8u63_li_ion_rechargeable_battery.html/ayou can also ask any BH representative for a battery solution that is 12-18vDC, has a built-in p-tap battery source, and does not require a plate to use. Hope that helps

Q: 10. I have the thumb wheel set. Will this controller only set up match with the unit I have now? Or do I need to purchase something else as well?

A: Hi LucasThanks for your question. If you have a microRemote fingerwheel system including basestation and motor, then you only need to purchase this hand unit and it will work correctly to provide wireless remote focus. You just need to ensure the basestation and the hand unit are on the same channel. if you have any additional questions on how to use please contact us at support@redrockmicro.comthanks!

As an assistant camera, I add a lot of value to myself by including a wireless follow focus with my rate. I couldn't afford to purchase a preston or any sort of 3-channel system at the time, so I decided to buy the microRemote system so I could at least say it's an option. I was concerend about the previous reviewer's comments on wireless range, so I contacted redrock directly to see if they had any comment. They told me that all new units were now shipping with an upraded chip that gives a 1 mile line of sight range. I thought that was pretty ridiculous, but with that states spec I figured it would work for my needs. And it does. The new chip lets me go further than my Teradek wireless video signal will even go. I can blow through walls, houses, anything. I have yet to loose a connection, or even needed to change the channels on the back. The unit works great, and I ended up purchasing the run/stop cable for epic cameras so now I can trigger the recording of an epic/scarlet wirelessly, which is super nice. I really like the mapping feature of it as well, so even when I'm forced to pull focus on short-throw L-series lenses, the system expands the throw so I can actually make marks with the much longer through of the control unit.

After reading the above-mentioned reviews, I decided to pull the trigger and buy this system. Like many others, I have been operating my Ronin and Red over the course of the last couple of months and let me tell...pulling focus when you are moving with the Red is rough. After hooking this system up, I must say that it worked well. Focussing with the thumb wheel is awesome. If you own a RED Scarlet/Epic/Dragon and a Ronin.....pay the money...it will help. Also, you will need gears depending on what type of lens that you have. Tim ------

Very easy on the pocket and has been great so far, using it with Canon CN-E primes. Redrock Micro also has great customer service.

Honestly one of the best purchases i've made this year! I'll admit, single channel isn't for everyone, but paired with my a7s/Ronin setup I really don't need much more than focus control! The fingerwheel is really what sold me on the unit when I saw it at last year's NAB.. More often than not, I am operating and pulling my own focus for freelance work, and small jobs don't exactly have the budget(s) to be renting FIZ units let alone another person to pull for you. The unit definitely isn't perfect and has some things I would've loved for it to have.. like not having to recalibrate each time you switch lenses, automatic backlash adjustment, etc.. but again, this is a $3k solution that you can OWN and performs just as good, if not better, than the bartech i'm used to renting IMHO

I love my microRemote. I've had mine for over a year and I have not had any issues with it. I do mostly concert and event shooting. It gives me freedom of running around and focusing instantly on any situation/scene. With the finger wheel attached to my microhandgrip my hands never leave the rig. This bundle was a great start for me. Since most of my shooting is run and gun I did not need wireless control. If you are a run and gun shooter this is a great tool. Its been very reliable. The auto calibration is my favorite feature. I can switch lenses and let the unit calibrate and I'm good to go.

I was very hesitate to buy this product, but with the cost of a multichannel remote being north of 10 grand, I figured I could give it a try. I was very surprised by the build quality and responsiveness of the unit. The TORQUE motor (which is the most important component of any remote system) is incredibly smooth and reliable. If you are looking for a single channel remote then look no further, this is an amazing unit for the price, actually for any price. I don't give good reviews often, in fact, I rarely review products at all, but this is an exceptional product and deserves recognition.

This system has been great, we did have some problems in the beginning but Redrock has great support and got everything fixed, they even sent a unit to use since it was the day before a huge shoot. Our circumstance was a little extreme and they may not always do this but its been a great tool.

This item was the missing piece to the puzzle. Using with a the Ronin system, this wireless focus system was very easy to use and great help for the camera team. The wireless function allowed the DP to follow the subject around while the AC was able to make sure the picture was in focus at all times. The motor is very smooth and quiet, also light and compact. Not many cables to use and has great wireless range from the remote! Definitely pleased with the product and results.
