Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If my largest lens requires an82mm filter, can I purchase this kit and a set of step up rings to cover filter use on all others?

A: Yes, you can use step rings to place these filters on the smaller diameter lenses, but keep in mind that it should be magnetic Kase Step rings like this https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1512731-REG/kase_kw_msp_7782_magnetic_adapter_ring_step.html of appropriate size. We also recommend to have these wrenches when you work with filters and specifically step rings. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1407949-REG/sensei_62_72mm_rubberized_filter_wrench.html

Q: 2. Is this the latest system from kase as if 2023 or is this an older kit? I want to get the latest and greatest.

A: The Kase KW Revolution Entry Kit (82mm) is a great entry set for the "Revolution" series of filters. The KW Revolution filters are made with shock-resistant and water-resistant optical glass that's durable and easy to clean, and that doesn't cause any color cast. In addition to being front-threaded, magnetic adapters. This gives them an edge over their "Wolverine" series filters.

Q: 3. does it fit in sony 600gm box with the lens

A: Yes the filter will fit in the hard case that comes with the Sony 600mm f4 lens.

Q: 4. Can you still use lens hoods when using Kase Revolution Magnetic filters?

A: The filters in the Kase KW Revolution Mega Set (82mm) are front threaded, so it would be possible to attach a lens hood.

Q: 5. As the filter is a distance away from the front element, will there be reflections from the front element itself?

A: The Kase Skyeye MCUV Filter Kit for Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS Lens (B&H# KAKSONUV) and also the elements of the Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS Lens (B&H# SO6004GM) are multicoated so as to reduce reflections. While no coating so far in existence can prevent some photons from bouncing back when hitting a surface, reflections are hugely reduced by those coatings. The distance between the glass elements does not make a difference in this regard.

Q: 6. Doe this set come with a case?

A: The Kase KW Revolution Professional ND Kit (82mm) comes with a filter case.

Q: 7. Will the Kase Revolution 82mm filters cause any vignetting on the Sony 20mm 1.8 or the Sony 24mm 1.4?

A: The Kase KW Revolution Professional ND Kit does not cause any visible vignetting on the Sony 20mm 1.8 or the Sony 24mm 1.4.

Q: 8. Will I get vignetting if I stack multiple filters? Should I get a size larger than my lens to avoid that?

A: It depends how wide the lens is. If you are using very wide lens such as 16mm on a full frame camera the more filters you stack from the Kase KW Revolution Professional ND Kit (82mm) the more likely you are too get vignetting. That Kase filter kit does have an inlaid adapter ring, that helps to reduce vignetting if the lens is not super wide, for example 28mm on full frame. But even in 28mm if you stack too many filters you may get vignetting. If you are planning on stacking multiple filters on a wide lens it is better to get a filter holder as that allows you to use 100mm wide filters, and that will reduce the chance of vignetting like this Nisi V7. https://bhpho.to/36m5ssY

Q: 9. Can I use a regular step-up ring to attach this to a 77mm lens?

A: Yes, you can use a standard step up ring from 77 to 82, then attach the adapter ring that comes with the Kase KW Revolution Professional ND Kit (82mm) and then you will be able to attach the magnetic filters.

Q: 10. Will the lens hood still fit with the filter on?

A: The lens hood of the Sony FE 600mm F4 GM OSS Full-frame Super-telephoto lens can be attached along with the Kase Skyeye MCUV Filter Kit for Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS Lens BH #KAKSONUV in use.

This step up ring allows me to own one high quality filter and use it on smaller lens opening. The construction is excellent and, so far, I see no problems.

Does what you expect. Makes it easier to remove filters, aluminum or brass.

When I initially compared the prices of brass step-up rings with those of the more common metal rings (aluminum??), I didn't hesitate. I bought the cheaper rings, of course. Mama didn't raise no spendthrifts! And that was fine, until one got stuck on a filter. By "stuck" I mean "Did I super-glue this thing on?" I tried everything – filter wrenches, cooling in the fridge, warming in hot water, WD40, graphite lubricant.
Finally I waved the white flag and bought this brass ring, and several in other sizes. The difference is just amazing. Besides screwing and unscrewing smoothly, the rings are sturdier, weigh a little more, and won't bend as easily as the others. So trust me and pony up a few dollars more.
Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with the cheap rings. Drink coasters? Punk earrings?

Excellent brass step-up ring. Amazing quality. Construction is great. Threads on and off quite nicely. Very tactile, which is super inasmuch as the knurled edges greatly help in terms of mounting the ring into place without risk of over-tightening. A simple, firm grasp is all that's required for mounting or removal of the ring due to the textured edges. Great product. I purchased the 67-77mm and the 58-77. Love both.

Never have used a step-up ring before. All that money buying two filter was a waste. There are many rings out there... but bought this because it is brass. Like the quality... time will tell how it does with use.
