Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with the new Apple 13.6" M2 Macbook Air? I understand some docking stations block the MagSafe charging port. If not, can you suggest an alternative?

A: It is possible that there may be enough clearance, however without the exact dimensions of the host connectors we cannot say for sure. To avoid risking blocking the MagSafe port, I would recommend a single-connection hub/dock such as BH #EZX40030.

Q: 2. Will this work with a non-Thunderbolt equipped USB Type C iPad?

A: The SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station will not work properly over a USBC connection. It requires Thunderbolt 4.

Q: 3. Thunderbolt 4 to HDMI. My ASUS laptop has 2 Thunderbolt 4 sockets. If taking one of these to the hub, then from the hub to two displays using HDMI. Do the Thunderbolt to HDMI cables need to be active or have any specific features?

A: The SD5700T 4-port Thunderbolt 4 only supplies power through USB since it does not have HDMI ports, an adapter would be needed. It would depend on the monitor that is being used and the adapter if power will be supplied to said monitor.

Q: 4. does it work with MacBook Pro, 2021 16"?

A: The Kensington SD5750T Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station can be used with a MacBook Pro 2021.

Q: 5. what's new from the SD5700T?

A: The Kensington SD5750T Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Dock (DFS) is engineered to work with the Microsoft Surface while the SD5700T is meant for Thunderbolt.

Q: 6. Will this work with an M1 MacBook Pro? The OWC dock does not.

A: Yes, this is a driverless dock, and as such will have no issues being recognized by any platform. As far as the peripherals you connect through it, that may vary.

Q: 7. Could I use separate usb c power supply instead of mac usb c port?

A: The SMK-Link USB-C Dual 4K Multi-Stream 12-in-1 Mini-Docking Station does not support external power.

Q: 8. I have a Dell WD19TB Thunderbolt 3 docking station and ran out of ports on this device. Can I add the K35175NA in a daisy chain connection, connecting it to the WD19TB on its inbound TB3 port? The WD19TB will be directly connected to the PC's TB3 port.

A: Yes, you can daisy chain the Kensington SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station as the 1st device, and then use its additional thunderbolt port to connect your Dell WD19TB Thunderbolt 3 dock.

Q: 9. Why does the cloning feature make two volumes on cloned disk? How do I prevent this?

A: According to Sabrent, when using the Sabrent USB Type-B Dual Bay SATA Docking Station's offline cloning feature...if the target drive is a larger capacity drive, the capacity remaining in the target drive upon completion of the offline clonse will show up as unallocated. Go into Disk Management on Windows or Disk Utility on Mac and allocate the remaining capacity.

Q: 10. Can this function as a plain 10g USB 3 hub when connected to a PC without a Thunderbolt-equipped USB Type C port?

A: The SD5700T 4-Port Thunderbolt 4 Dual 4K Docking Station requires a fully qualified Thunderbolt 4 port to work properly, otherwise results can be unexpected and more importantly unsupported, as that would not be the intended use of this dock.
