Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I plug the NTG3 directly into the canon 5d Mark iv?

A: No. The NTG3 requires phantom power which the camera does not provide so you will need to use an adapter that will power the mic. The Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO (B&H # BEDXAMICROP) will supply phantom power and also has a high quality preamp built in. Many recorders and mixers will also supply phantom power. Please feel free to contact us if you would like further assistance.

Q: 2. Can these be mounted horizontally?

A: Yes the brackets can be mounted either way. I found drilling an additional hole in the bracket was helpful for support. And easy.

Q: 3. Would this work with a canon c200?

A: This will work with the XLR inputs on the C200.

Q: 4. Are they water resistant or waterproof? Do they need to be under an awning?

A: The Yamaha NS-AW350 is water resistant, not water proof.

Q: 5. What thread type is the mic holder that comes in the set? Trying to mount it to a 5/8 thread mic stand

A: yes it is 5/8

Q: 6. Can the ntg3b plug directly into a Sony a7s2? Or is the ntg4+ the only one with a built in phantom?

A: The NTG-3 requires an external phantom power source and is not directly compatible with the a7s2. The Rode NTG-4+ features a built in rechargeable battery that will allow for direct connection to the camera as well as the Rode NTG-2 which is able to accept a AA battery for power.

Q: 7. Will this work to record audience responses in a 50 ft wide x 80 foot long building if it's mounted at one end?

A: The NTG3B is a great mic, but it is directional and has a narrow field for pickup. Additionally, it is not intended for use from that far of a distance. The mic should be positioned much closer to the audience and if you are recording the audience as a group, rather than recording individual people, a stereo mic would be a better choice since it has a wider field for pickup. Depending on the size of the audience and characteristics of the room, you may want to use more than one microphone positioned above them. It would be useful to have more information and to be able to communicate with you directly to best assist you in selecting an appropriate microphone or microphones for your application, as well as to be able to offer suggestions for where to place the mic(s).. Please contact our pro audio specialists by phone or through live chat on the website and we will be happy to help.

Q: 8. question to the audio experts out there. I noticed a big price difference. So is the NTG3 better than the NTG4+?

A: Well they're different in many ways. The NTG3 requires Phantom power to work, the noise floor is less and it sounds cleaner. The NTG4+ can work with the internal battery, which lasts a lot and it is really impressive, that also helps cause your recorder battery will last more. But the NTG4 requires more gain from the preamp so it can get a bit noisier. So, yes the Ntg 3 sounds better, but I would say you have to think what could work better with the gear you already have and the type of work you'll do.

Q: 9. Does the cover have cut outs for wheels?

A: The bottom of these covers are open.

Q: 10. Does this come with a shock mount? It's listed as a free item that comes with the set, but it's NOT listed on the in the box tab.

A: Mine did
