The Plustek SmartOffice SC8016U Scanner is a 600 dpi A3-size document scanner with a 100-sheet automatic document feeder. This scanner features a scan speed of 80 pages per minute, or 160 images per minute in duplex mode, when scanning A4-size documents in grayscale at 300 dpi. This allows for high quality scans at a quick rate, especially with a duty cycle of 8,000 scans per day for a rated lifetime of 300,000 scans.

The scanner can handle a variety of media types all the way up to 11.7 x 200", even including plastic and embossed cards. Additionally, all these items can be stacked in the feeder without any sorting or separation.

The SC8016U features an intelligent misfeed function that utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to detect double feeding. It also uses standard TWAIN and WIA drivers for compatibility with many scanning and imaging programs.

Also, the scanner includes a USB 2.0 cable, an AC adapter, a power cable, a setup/application CD-ROM, a calibration sheet, a memo label, a cleaning cloth, 2 pad modules, a feed roller, and a paper chute.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Wondering how sharp the 135i’s scans are? Especially panoramas. Can it deal with curling across the film? Any aftermarket sw?

A: The Plustek OpticFilm 135i Scanner is very sharp. By using a CCD sensor, it has good depth of focus plus the film holders help flatten and curvature of the film. The included software works well with the scanner. They are options such as Silverfast or VueScan too but those would cost extra.

Q: 2. How does this scanner perform for scanning artworks like sketchbooks?

A: The Plustek OpticBook 3800L Scanner is made for scanning books but it is also very good for artwork like sketchbooks. It has a maximum resolution of 1200 dp (optical).

Q: 3. Will this scanner scan film negatives?

A: No. The following unit is not ideal as the following unit is designed for Scans maps, drawings, graphics, news articles, books, odd-shaped documents, and more. unit only provides a 800dpi output.

Q: 4. What is the maximum final pixel size on an image if I scan a 12x17 original?

A: The maximum dpi of the Plustek Opticpro A320E is 800 and a 12x17 inch scan at full res would be 373.5MB uncompressed. And the total pixels would be 9600x13600.

Q: 5. I'd love to scan record covers with this, which are generally right at 12"x12". Other scanners I've used don't scan right up the edge of the glass. If I placed a 12" wide item in here, will I get all 12 inches scanned?

A: Standard record albums are 12 3/8 x 12 3/8", so at least one edge of an album scanned on the 12x17" Plustek Opticpro A320E Flatbed Scanner will be cut off.

Q: 6. Can a thunderbolt accessory be used to connect this scanner to the new Mac desktop?

A: The Plustek Opticpro A320E Flatbed Scanner requires a USB 2 interface. For Mac users that support USB 2 a Thunderbolt to USB adapter is necessary.

This scanner wroks very well. I've scanned over 100 35 mm slides with out any problem. It took me a couple of tries to get results, but like anything new, it just takes using it to get a handle on the process.

Purchase this to scan all the pictures my wife has collected over the years and love how fast I can go through the pictures in a photo album. The only thing that I don't like is I have to stop and save at every 50 pictures scanned.

This is exactly what you need if you have a few thousand images that need to be scanned fast. Quality is excellent, took me about 2 minutes to set up, and (so far) not a single issue. Is this is the unit I would use for work? No, probably not, but for the boxes of personal photographs it has been amazing. We cranked through 1500 photos the first night.

The 135i is built really well as well as the strip holders. I have some negatives slightly curved and they lay perfectly flat in the holder. I appreciate that I can do batch scans and not have to do one by one manually. Their own software is very generic so opt for a 3rd party app to get the best results.

Over the last 10 years I have scanned about 2000 old family photos , some going back to the 1920's. Very time consuming with a flatbed scanner. I needed something a lot faster to continue my project in finishing digitalizing the family photos . The plustek e-photo was in my price range . The reviews were mixed but I decided to take a chance. The scans to my eye were right on. The speed of 2 seconds photo were correct. The scans downloads to the photo app as fast as you can feed the machine. You can easily scan a 1000 photos in an afternoon . The only downside I see now is that the machine can only feed a thickness of a photo. Old polaroids will work but barely. A license , no . Good machine!

This is a great photo scanner, easy to set up, good quality, and most importantly it's fast. In fact, that's the best thing about this scanner. The scan speed. It has options for 300dpi and 600dpi and honestly, the quality isn't much better at 600dpi, but the photo is just larger. The scan speed drops a lot at 600dpi, so unless you're planning to print large posters or banners 300dpi is enough. If you have a box full of photos you've been meeting to scan but never get to, buy this! Did I mention how fast you can scan? Other features are an easy to use scan app which has some nice photo editing. Auto-save when you scan photos.

Just got my OpticFilm 135i and it is absolutely amazing. Setup was simple, software leaves a little bit to be desired, but the first set of transparencies I scanned were perfect. The image I've attached is of an experimental aircraft (a Berkut) over Santa Monica Bay at sunset. It was the 26th scan on the 135i since I opened the box. It has been one of the most difficult to scan previously, but the 135i got it perfectly. I highly recommend this scanner! Worth every penny!

This scanner is very easy to use but packed with great features. I can easily scan to a jpeg or PDF and a searchable PDF. No problems with scanning the edges of a bound book. It is reasonably priced and does a great job!
