The ruggedly constructed housing of the Colorimetry Research CR-250 Tristimulus Colorimeter/Photometer from SpectraCal is made of machined aluminum and stainless steel, and it can withstand high acceleration rates for the most demanding motion positioning systems and environments. All optical components are fixed to ensure that no optical misalignments occur due to vibration, shock, or high acceleration/ deceleration rates.

It weighs only 1.2 lb, and it is the perfect tool for display inspection and calibration and for mounting on fast-moving XYZ tables. Its small size and shape allow several CR-250s to be mounted on the same motion control system and the simultaneous measurement of several spots in the same display.

The CR-250 is a USB 2.0 compatible device, remotely controlled by the host software from any personal computer, laptop, or netbook. As an option, the CR-250 can also be controlled by an Ethernet 10BASET/100BASE-TX IEEE-802.3 compliant connection or an RS-232 port.

The CR-250 allows uploading up to three sets of custom CMFs, which can be alternate standards proposed by different organizations, such as Judd-Voss 1978, or custom CMFs a researcher may be working on.

A: The Datacolor SpyderX Pro Colorimeter (BH# DASXP100) can be used with laptops (except the 14" and 16" 2021 and later MacBook Pro Liquid Retina XDR displays). From the perspective of the Spyder X software, your laptop is basically regular computer with a permanently attached monitor. You will tilt the screen back in a minimally lit room and place the colorimeter on the screen for calibration. There is no relevant difference between laptops and desktops as far as the software or hardware is concerned.

Using this was pretty simple. Download the software from the webpage, install and hold it up to the screen. I did notice the temperature shift in color after doing this but felt it was because it was because I had it set to high contrast to begin with. Happy with the results. 5

I already own an older version of the Spyder & decided it was time for an upgrade. I purchased the SpyderX Pro & couldn't be happier. The time needed for a calibration is so much faster & the results are equally accurate. 5

Quick and easy install just like my prior Datacolor products. Needed to upgrade moving to a new M1 Mac and my old Spyder 4 is no longer supported. Before buying, I read reviews and articles about a lot of compatibility issues with most color calibration systems with an M1 but Datacolor got theirs compatible. Their software installed without issue and my display was recalibrated trouble free. 5

It calibrate the monitor with a bit warmer color, and the speed of calibration is fast. The size of SpyderXPro seems even smaller than its predecessors and lighter too. 5

This is easy to use, quick to set up, and I finally received prints that matched what I was seeing on screen. Would recommend this to anyone who has ever been disappointed with what they were receiving from a printer. No more wasted prints! 5

I've been printing my own images for many years now and knew that I really should calibrate my monitor to assure the best matching color and vibrance between the final print and what I was seeing on the monitor. The main drawback was the price of the calibrating unit. Over the years, I have probably wasted enough photo paper to pay for several colorimeters! Now that I own the Datacolor Spyder X Pro, I am kicking myself for waiting so long to own and use such a unit. It is reliable, easy to use and does what it says....printer images are much more faithful to the original image. I did purchase mine from B and H while it was on sale for a very good savings, but even at the list price of $169, it is one piece of gear that every photographer who generates his/her own prints should really own. Should gone this route long ago! 5
