I sometimes lose track of all my Pelican cases and which camera, sound unit, mic, or various production equipment is contained in them. I have so many. Why? Because Pelican cases are the best protection you can buy for your gear. I've had them in the bottom of caves, in jungles, on 20,000 foot mountains and not once did they fail to protect gear that I needed for a shoot. I've had no reason to drop a case from a jet flying at 37,000 feet over the Gulf of Tampichi (yet) but I bet my best Sony Pro Video cam that the gear inside would be useable after the event. I have dropped boulders on them to discover that it may have left a scratch on the case itslef - not on the gear. An assistant dropped a Pelican in the OCEAN with a digital audio recorder from a boat in the Bahamas one time and after fishing it out of the water the audio unit was as dry as a bone. Lower priced or off-brand alternitives just will not do - Get a Pelican and feel secure. Now if I could just find one the right size for myself in the event of a jet plane thing as described above I really would feel secure.

I use this case for my paranormal electronics. It is deep enough to have 2 levels for my gear.

As a member of a law enforcement bomb squad, I trust my equipment with my life, and to make sure that equipment does what I need it to, when I need it to, I store my gear in Pelican brand cases.

I gave this five stars because it is my second case in twenty years. That's how old my last 1550 is. It gave me excellent service and I can't see buying anything else. The old case used foam insert dividers and Pelican has knocked it out of the park with these new Velcro padded dividers. I can pack quite a bit more gear safely into this new case. Pelican has added some very nice improvements.

I bought this case to transport high end microphones. However, it's primary use has become a computer case. It will soon become my camera case. So I have since invested in an actual Pelican computer case. Ironically, the thinner case seems just as heavy! It also has a rounded top which makes my computer rock when I use it as a small desk. So I actually prefer the big yellow case. The case is easy to spot which is good in case someone tries to walk off with it. What I have learned is that people know these cases carry important gear. I get asked a lot what's in the case. I believe if it ever got stolen, the theif would keep the case and chuck the computer. It's a great case. They're expensive but they protect your gear. My friend's 5 year old jumped on top of it with computer inside. Built like a tank.

Best option on the market for protecting your camera equipment from the elements. Built like a tank and water proof.. I use this to protect my EOS Camera while Kayaking.. Works great.

When traveling, I store my Leica and Nikon bodies along with the lens for each in this case, the 1550 is just the right size for me. The foam keeps the equipment very secure, The small squares are easily removed if you follow the instructions. The case is extremely well built for rough handling. I have not found anything I do not like about this case
