Audio professionals looking for the very best converters will appreciate the updated Apogee Electronics 16x16 SE Module, a sixteen-channel analog input and sixteen-channel analog output module for the Symphony I/O Mk II. The module occupies one of the two slots available on the chassis. Additionally, two-channel coaxial S/PDIF input and output is also provided. The A/D circuit has been refined to offer a streamlined circuit design, resulting in the most transparent signal path to the A/D stage possible.

The D/A section has been optimized with a more powerful and robust output driver that is capable of driving virtually any input without a decrease in performance, regardless of the load presented by the connected gear. The analog inputs and outputs are offered on DB-25 connectors and require optional breakout cables, available in various configurations to suit individual requirements.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you power up and turn Off the Einsteins with these modules? Or can they only control light output settings? Looking to add to existing gym setup. I can't find how to do this using AC3, MC2 and TT5 with Einsteins.

A: Yes, you can set the PowerMC2 to wake up the Einstein if you use a MiniTT1, FlexTT5, or FlexTT6 on your camera as the transmitter. You can also have the PowerMC2 allow the flash to hibernate after a specific period of inactivity from the transmitter.

Q: 2. What are the dimensions of the soft box?

A: This softbox is 7.1" x 5.3" (18x13.5cm)

Q: 3. When I tried to buy some of these 3 months ago they had been recalled and were unavailable anywhere. Have the problems been fixed?

A: To our knowledge, the previous issues with the PowerMC2 module have been resolved.

Q: 4. Hi. I would like to use this module with my SEKONIC L-558 light meter to trigger a Phottix wireless trigger system. Do you think it will trigger my Phottix wireless trigger system? Or this module it will work only with Pocket Wizard triggering system?

A: No, that module is only for the Sekonic L-758, L-358 & C-500R Meters. And it is designed to work with RadioPopper Nano and jrX Receivers. It is not compatible with Pocketwizards or Phottix.Sekonic just came out with a meter that is compatible with the Phottix system, Sekonic LiteMaster Pro L-478DR-U-PX.

Q: 5. How wide is the IR beam? If someone could tell me how many degrees wide it is or just a good guess that would be great. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!James B.Thanks!

A: The beam width from the transmitter varies depending on the power setting and the distance to the receiver. For example, if the distance to the receiver is about 20 feet and the transmitter power is at high, the angle of width is about 30 degrees. Closer it is wider. On the low setting, it is about 10 degrees or less. Aiming it is not an issue. As for breaking the beam, it is a very narrow zone like less than 1 degree in each direction. Basically, the subject has to break line of sight between the transmitter and receiver.

Q: 6. Does this item works with the cable of the hahnel shutter release for Phase One XF camera?

A: Unfortunately, B&H does not carry the Phase One XF Digital Camera, and I do not see a shutter release cable designed by Hahnel for use with the Phase One XF Digital camera. I cannot confirm if the hahnel Captur Pro Module would be compatible for use with the Phase One XF Digital camera.

Q: 7. If I am using this with a Blue Snowball Microphone, can I place this filter flat onto a table so it surrounds my small mic? Or does it have to be mounted to a microphone stand?

A: If it were me,..I would either set a cork mat or blanket/towel on the table THEN put the mic and filter atop of that. It might mitigate some potential vibrations or reflection that could come from the hard surface.

Q: 8. I ordered this and now am looking for a laser pointer so I can trigger this via a laser. Which color laser should I be using? If it matters the distance from the laser pointer and the receiver will never be more then 20-30 feet.

A: This option will work very well "Quartet MP-1200Q Class Three Standard Pen Size Laser Pointer BH #QUMP1200Q • MFR #MP-1200Q"

Q: 9. For sound triggering, can you adjust the sensitivity of this device? Also, can you set it to delay the shutter release after it detects the sound? If so, for how long and what increments? Thanks.

A: I have only used the Captur Pro once while target shooting so far but I intend to do so more often. I had some confusion about the sensitivity but that was more not reading the directions carefully first. The lower the number the less sensitive the unit will be and I needed to make sensitivity number very low to react only to the sound of discharge and not wind noise (it happened to be a very windy day and it took a while to get the right setting to compensate for wind moving over the unit). I don't remember exactly the delay setting I used but it was around one or two milliseconds. You will have to play with the timing. The movement of the slide mechanism is very fast but I was able to capture images of spent cartridges being discharged from the pistol. As a side note I also use the unit as a remote for my Canon 60D. The button between the Lock and the Start/Stop buttons is the remote trigger. Hold halfway and it focuses, press all the way down and activates the shutter. Also, as a bonus it works with my old Canon 20D. You have to order the cords separately but they are not very expensive. The other option is to order the remote controllers but I decided not to do that just yet. Hope this helps.

Q: 10. If this works on a hot shoe, would it work for older film SLRs?

A: The hotshoe is only for mounting the trigger on the Camera and there is no Data transfer there. Film Cameras used a Cable Release to trigger the shutter. So, I do not think the Hahnel Trigger would work.

This is a great product when combined with a PocketWizard MiniTTL and AC3 Zone Contorller and Paul C. Buff's Einstein flash units. It gives you easy and total control of your lights.

This piece works like a charm, and is super easy and compact to use. I photograph weddings and am often on the go climbing in and out of cars. This peice can easily get knocked off. I just bought a second one, because the first dissappeared!

Works as expected. Always liked being able to have a mixed system of strobes and speedlight working together. Do be mindful of the long pins but have never had a bent pin issue.

I am a Wedding/Fashion Editorial photographer based in Birmingham, AL. And I absolutely love the PowerMC2 !!! I use the Flex System for my bridal sessions, and on every occasion I have a Shoot outdoors I Use my Power MC2. I can take advantage of the Power MC2 by over powering the sun utilizing the Hyper Sync speed of my Einteins e640. I can use my strobe lights at 4000th of a second and even at 8000th of a second when I use a wide open aperture as a f2.8. I am not limited at 250th of a second which most DSLRs are set to. Now I have the freedom to freeze motion and create breathtaking images on broad day light !

I almost died in a shooting when in Maldivas.
After finishing my day I was wrapping everything. When I went to disconnect the unit I got a shock. My assistant said I was blue and the whole energy of the building went off.
They are really good, no doubt.

I use it with a PocketWizard MiniTT1. Had it transmitting for the first time in under a minute. Easy to use. I like using my Sekonic Litemaster Pro L-478DR Light Meter with it as it allows me to adjust the power on the Einstein E640 quikly across 3 zones independently while I'm metering the light without the need for an AC3 ZoneController.
