I snapped off the retaining pin on this unit when I overtightened it on a tripod with a SmallHD DP7 on it. I am a bit of an overtightener, but I was still surprised. If you want to be able to CRANK something down and have it hold weight, go with the Manfrotto Super Clamp. A LOT more weight and bulk, but I have never seen one break, ever... I still use this to mount GoPro cams, mics, small lights, etc. But I went back the the Super Clamp for my monitors mounts. Just not willing to put an $1800 piece of gear on one anymore. Good to have a couple in your kit at this price though.
