Q: 1. Is this ideal for a podcast? Or is there a better handheld option?

A: This microphone is great to be used for interviews, however in a podcast scenario you might want to look into dynamic recording microphones. see links bellow for options. For the Podmic in the first link you will need a interface to connect it to a computer, the second mic can be used both with a interface or via usb straight into the computer. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1449997-REG/rode_podmic_dynamic_podcasting_microphone.html?sts=pi&pim=Y https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1593379-REG/shure_mv7_k_mv7_mic.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

A: 4.71 circumference.

Q: 6. I've found some issues with playback via mobile devices. It records properly, imports, and exports. Connected to both a DSLR and Vixia HV40 via XLR-Stereo Mini-Plug, However, when uploaded and anyone tries to use headphones or tries to playback on a mobile device the sound is garbled. Any thoughts?????

A: Hi. I had the same issue. Was really annoying. Not sure what editor you use or if you do, but I use adobe premiere pro cc, and if I go to effects, and add the effect fill left with right or right with left , can't remember which one I used, but add that effect and then it works fine. Not sure how other editors would work. But thats the only solution I've found.

Q: 7. Hello. Why should I go with Neodymium Capsule instead of the normal one? Thanks

A: The RE 50 with a Neodymium capsule will add additional gain to the mic.

Q: 8. Will this work with the Azden 310XT UHF On-Camera Plug-In System?

A: no, the wireless transmitter doesn't supply the phantom power needed by the microphone.

Q: 9. will this work with Azden 310XT UHF On-Camera Plug-In System?

A: The Senal ENG-18RL as well as similar dynamic ENG mics are compatible and can be used with the Azden 310XT system.

I've had this microphone for about a year now for in-person band interviews and it works great! Cancels out all noise for the most part, clear as a whistle.

I have been using this mic mainly for news broadcasts and packages, including in loud settings. I found that this mic handles a wide range of applications even voice overs when I can't get into the studio. For the money, it's a great buy. I do wish it came with a wind screen though, seems like a miss for the price point. Otherwise seems like a workhorse of mic.

The omnidirectional feature allows you to get crispy clear voice. Perfect for indoor not bad for loud exterior interviews.

Use it any time it need a dependable stick mic. Seldom need a wind screen. Reporters drop it all the time and keeps working fine. When the finish gets dinged up you can send it in to be refurbished.

I've had my RE50B for years, but maybe this reviewer has an even older version or something. I can confirm that the RE50B has a locking XLR connector. A cable or transmitter is not going to fall off unless there's something wrong with the connector on the cable or transmitter.

My E-V mic is great, but I'd like to compare a Sennheiser MD-46 or 42. The Senn sounded a little clearer on one YouTube review I watched recently.

Does anyone know if E-V or Senn is better in the wind?

I use this microphone as a go-to in all news gathering situations, especially when things get too noisy for a lav. The noise isolation on the RE50/B is top notch, as is the sound quality for general news gathering needs. These microphones can take a beating and keep on performing at a high level. It has never failed me in any weather situation I have come across in the field. Only negative I can think of is that the set screw for the XLR tends to come loose occasionally, but this is going to be true with any mic that is put through the ringer.
